So today a lady I'm getting to know at work said something to the effect that she'd never met anyone "geeky" like me. She then qualified that with "In a good way, like you aren't embarrassed. You even where t-shirts and stuff. I don't know many people like that."

I'm a tad stumped. Thoughts welcome.
I was seriously considering moving, and it's not fully ruled out, but today I came to the realisation that I don't think I like this job enough anymore to actually want to remain in it, let alone move just to do so.

I'm not really a gamer, I wanted to try this particular game. It's a short sort of non-linear style game that piqued my interest a while back and now that I technically have a "gaming" laptop I thought why not?

Anyhow, I found you have to dl the game via a site called Steam. So I signed up and purchased it.

The thing is, the game is quite large (it's talking quite sometime to dl). So how do gamers deal with that? I assume when I'm finished I could delete it and still dl it again from Steam at any time? But any progress would be lost if I did that, like Steam would only hold the game files, yeah? Do you just move the files to an external drive when you're not playing?

I'm just curious as anything game-y is totally new to me.

Ahhhhh new laptop. Yay! Been wanting one for a while and finally got myself and my money together. In order to get close to the basic specs I wanted, I was made to buy a "gaming" laptop. LOL. I don't think that was a thing the last time I bought one. My old laptop had the equivalent, for the time, of these specs and it didn't need a glowing keyboard. Ha!

So now, maybe I'll be able to vid again. Trying to figure out the versions of Sony Vegas is doing my head in though. The latest Pro version like I used to use is outta my price range. Thinking the other version will easily suit my vidding needs though. Will download the 1 month trial once the muse hits.

Is anyone looking to do Nanowrimo? I'm seriously tempted, especially now that I have a laptop (i.e. means). But most of my novel-shaped ideas are not very well formed. ;)

Hey, been awhile, but that seems to be my pattern here. *sigh*

So I've started watching and re-watching westerns lately, old/new, TV/movie, spaghetti/more traditional, whatever. The thing that's struck me (apart from a bit of an early Clint Eastwood crush) is that the characters are so familiar. I mean apart from the Magnificent Seven TV show I've rarely watched Westerns at all, but I'm getting a kick out of how many of the shows I watch are like Westerns just transposed onto a new setting - space, the future, a fantasy setting - they're all still good vs evil, cocky gunslingers and evil greedy bad guys... It's wonderful and has given me so many ideas for writing. I know it shouldn't be a revelation to me, but somehow watching Westerns these past few weeks has cemented in my brain the similarities between so many of the genres, characters and shows I like and given me a bigger picture of things. I'm in love.

I think I need to watch the new Magnificent Seven movie next. Hopefully someone will go with me to the movies. My Western kick started before I even knew that movie was coming out. Timing! (They better not have messed with the theme music!) ;)

Well that was a weird finale. Different.
Quite enjoyed this season. All the monster of the week episodes made it feel homey somehow.

My SPN S11 watch got derailed a few months back for... reasons. Computer ones mostly.
Anyhoo, finally figured out I was up to episode 7, so I'll get back to that. But I'm so forgetful. Can someone fill me in on why (if we know) Sam ( possible spoiler I guess ) again? Thanks buddies. This is the best place to ask such things. I know you all not only watch it, but are like "how does she not know that"? Ha!

I've never watched Startrek Enterprise before, but I realised the other day that at some point (likely several years ago) I bought the first 3 seasons on DVD. I started watching some today.

Does anyone else find it weird that Enterprise was part of an Earth collaboration, Starfleet, etc. And yet. the opening theme only shows American achievements in flight and space travel? Why not stick some Russian, Japanese, British etc. achievements in there? It's so very small-minded given what Startrek is all about. *sigh*

Anyhoo, the theme song is stupidly catchy. Might see if it's available to download on iTunes or something. I'm liking the slightly stuffy security guy and the medical officer. It's a nice cross of new and original startrek series so far, but I bet the die-hard fans struggled with it being a little inconsistent with original trek. Luckily I'm a fan, not a die-hard fan. Ha!

Anyone know where you can get Grenada Holmes for a reasonable price that will ship to Australia? So far I've had no luck. There's heaps of second-hand copies, but none that ship here. Amazon.com had it for sale price (minus the movies), but again won't ship here. I love the Jeremy Brett version of Holmes. Just wondering if anyone has better google-fu than me.
