In this theatre by [livejournal.com profile] ultraviolet9a (SPN, Gen, PG-13, Castiel POV) - I liked the idea of Castiel exploring humanity, trying to understand it. It's very thought-provoking and nicely written.

Figurative Hell and Literal high Water by Tipper (SGA, Gen, H/C) - Rodney’s desperate to save his team, and Keller’s just trying to keep up, on a planet where hurricanes can last for days. Another Tipper adventure! I do love the build-up of the friendship and respect between Keller and McKay. Very nicely done, kept me on a cliff-hanger and had me feeling warm and fuzzy by the end. A nice long read and well worth it.

Do Winchesters Dream Of Electric Impalas? by [livejournal.com profile] kellifer_fic (SPN, AU, gen) - Dean was made to be a Big Brother. Brilliant AU! If you get the title reference to Philip K. Dick, then you'll know where this AU is coming from. If not, read it and just enjoy. I certainly did. :)

Angels Above While You Sleep by [livejournal.com profile] smilla02 (SPN, Gen, PG13) - Mary never forgets. This coda to 4.3 is just really touching in a sad way, with lovely imagery.

Singular and Plural by [livejournal.com profile] night_spear1287 (Gen, PG13) - There have been a lot of Mystery-spot codas and I haven't read them all by a long shot, but so far this one of the few I actually like. Why? Because Sam doesn't break down in tears and cry in an emo fashion and Dean doesn't force him to talk about it. In short, it feels more like the way I see the brothers' relationship in the show. I particularly like the little detail that brings you back to the title.

Stargate Atlantis fic:
Tale, Theorem, Promise, Plea by [livejournal.com profile] sheafrotherdon and its follow-up Hope, Duty, Pride, Home were written for the family challenge at the flashfic comm and they are just beautiful! The first is about birth and mother-hood and how our mother's and family could have shaped the SGA characters, where as the follow-up is how several SGA characters find family on Atlantis. As I say, both are lovely and worth a look-see. :)

Supernatural fic:
Walk like a man by [livejournal.com profile] hkath (gen, crack) - This one is just so very silly and so very funny and just has you snickering and saying "oh boys!" I won't say any more, because it'll give it away, but just read it. It'll make your day. :)

Uncharted Waters by [livejournal.com profile] swanseajill (PG, gen) - This is angsty, with Dean badly hurt and Sam so obviously hurting as he watches him, but what I really liked was that the whole thing is from the POV of an original female character. Something in me screams that she should be a Mary-Sue, but instead I found it really worked for me and held my interest nicely (something OFC's rarely do for me). If you like a bit of h/c and hurt!Dean, but want something a little different, then check it out.

The Doctor is in by [livejournal.com profile] dark_roast (gen) - This one is a coda to "the kids are alright," but it's a coda of a different kind. The kids really feel like individuals and are quite believable and well I miss Ash and he turns up here. :)

Vid recs:
Second to none by [livejournal.com profile] ageless_aislynn - A fun, action-filled (and rather cracky ;) ) ode to the Ninth Doctor, Rose, Jack and Mickey. Team TARDIS, for the win!

Lullaby by [livejournal.com profile] adharaphoenix - A Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles vid. (Derek and Cameron) The music just suits the character of Cameron so nicely and with the slow fades and the ballet scenes, it's just quite touching.

(1) Hey all, I'm hiding since I am terribly sure my friends list is currently full of Supernatural spoilers and I've noticed some of my more recently acquired friends don't lj-cut for spoilers. If any of you are reading this, I'd appreciate if you would do that, but hey, it's your lj and I'll just try avoidance for the moment. If I get spoilt by accident I may defriend though. Fair warning.

(2) There was a cute little lizard in my shower tonight! Gave me a little scare when I turned on the water and it darted out, but oh so cute. I had to grab my robe to spare the neighbours, scoop him up and plonk him outside. I think he couldn't have been more than 3cm long from nose to tail tip. Can we all say "awww!" :)

(3) hot chocolate rocks!

(4) I found a job advertisement that I am really interested in, so it made me all excited. Only now I'm trying to wend my way through answering the selection criteria and I've never had to do this before. It's rather hard. I don't do B-S-ing about myself very well. Wish me luck!

(5) I got second in my first ever icontest (dw_icontest)! Small squee of fun!

(6) Apparently, so I'm told, my rl posts are nothing like me in person. Hee!

(7) Every post needs a Seven 7! Wait I thought of a seven! Check out Improv Everywhere on Youtube! I think it was Chimosa that pointed them out and it's hilarious!! I especially like Frozen Grand Central. :)

(8) Read a really great SGA fic tonight by [livejournal.com profile] friendshipper - Cold Comforts (PG, gen) is wonderously shameless h/c of the sort that I love. McKay and Sheppard written perfectly! *gush* Go read, people!

(9) I've also read two fabulous Supernatural crossovers this week, both gen and complete, though there's certainly room for more stories. Here's hoping.
The first fic is [livejournal.com profile] kellifer_fic's Supernatural/His Dark Elements crossover, A Heartbeat at my Feet, which is just fabulously realised. This despite me still being stuck halfway through the series of books. I really hope she writes more in this world, because I'm so majorly hooked. :)
The second fabulous crossover being [livejournal.com profile] diamondback158's Primordal, which is a crossover with a graphic novel series called The Darkness, but so far only has Supernatural characters. I've never read the graphic novels, but the description in this fic is fantastic. You can just see the little Darklings and Dean with this awesome ability. And John... Oh John! :)
Just go read them both!!

(10) I've started watching Hex and man is that a weird show!! Weeeeird! Though strangely compelling. I just know I'm gonna have to buy S2. :P

Self Defence Mechanism (K+, Gen)

This is set after the events of "Sunday." Rodney turns up on Jeannie's doorstep, seeking family in his grief. It's seriously touching. The newly reforming sibling relationship between Jeannie and Rodney is spot on, Maddison is adorable, and John and Ronon, when they appear, are just gorgeous. Lovely fic. :)

Burning A Hole Right Through by [livejournal.com profile] purple_cube
Category: Gen, apoca!fic, SGA/DW crossover
Characters: Martha and Teyla mostly
Rating: PG
Summary: It's the end of the world as they know it, and they feel fine.

I love the character voices and interactions and this is just a really interesting idea. She's meshed these two fandoms together in a rather apocalyptic version of the future and it totally had me wondering what would happen next.

Stargate Atlantis

Wolf in Sheep's Clothing (Gen, friendship and whump, rated K+, 4 parts complete) by Eildon Rhymer
Injured and on the run, Sheppard and McKay are trapped in a dark ruin with a putative monster. This, however, is soon the least of their problems. - I really loved the description in this one, since they can't actually see. It's written from Rodney's point of view. Both John and Rodney are hurt and trapped in a pitch dark cave and Rodney's mind is going a mile a minute through every bad scenario possible, making the story in turns angsty, scary and funny. The way Rodney and John work together, knowing exactly what will keep each other going is really well written. I really enjoyed this one.

Supernatural

Snooze Alarm (PG, Gen) by [livejournal.com profile] minkmix
The horn out in the parking lot had been going off in blaring ten second intervals. - If you've ever suffered through the torture of an alarm going off that just won't stop... seriously brilliant. :)

Emptiness Echoing (7parts complete, Gen, R - for being scary as all hell) by [livejournal.com profile] cole_chan
The brothers are investigating an abandoned hospital with a grim past, but something’s not right. Are they both really there, or is Sam just a figment of Dean’s imagination? - Really scary in that highly confusing what-the-hell-is-going-on way. You're totally in Dean's head as he's trying to stop whatever is going on and get out of there. Also if you're into Dean-whump, you'll love it. And the ending worked so well. :)

Like, Totally! (Gen, PG) by [livejournal.com profile] jennuine
Sam's kind of died and gone to a really bizzarre heaven where his brother is secretly a teenaged girl. Dean is swinging his hips from side to side almost obscenely, and Sam really, really, really wishes he had that video camera. - Dean's possessed by a teenage girl, what more do you need to know. This just cracked me up. :)

Five times Dean Winchester was a girl (PG-13, Gen) by [livejournal.com profile] chaletian
A bit of wee!chesters, a bit of teen!chesters, a tiny bit of gender-switch, a bit of crack, a bit of humour and a bit of angst. Tiny AHBL spoiler. - Yeah like she said, a bit of everything and they're all just so different.

The Disney Life (PG, Gen) by [livejournal.com profile] deirdre_c
The hunt takes Sam and Dean to the Magic Kingdom. - Of course there's someone doing magic in the Magic Kingdom, lots of snark and brotherly banter, and animatronic pirates coming to life. A fun read. :)

In the Darkness, Light (PG-13, Gen) by [livejournal.com profile] iamstealthyone
Dean struggles to move on from his encounter with the djinn. - Dean has nightmares after his encounter with the Djinn. Not a fic I would usually read, but this was done well. Sam's concern wasn't over-the-top, the interplay between the boys was very realistic and the way Sam knows how to get Dean to do things when he needs to... Well it worked for me anyway. Plus the nightmares are freaky as all hell. :)

Everything I Needed to Know I Learned in Auto Shop (PG, Gen with a light dusting of Crack, TeenWinchesters, pre-series) by [livejournal.com profile] zannes
Sam hears a rumor about his dad at school. Is it the end of the world or does Arkansas just have really screwed up content standards? Sam decides to find out. - Just hilarious and wonderful.

Why do I always have lots of vidding ideas when WMM is acting pissy? Stupid program is just not happy to play at the moment and there are so many things I want to vid. *sigh*

And continuing with the idea that my LJ is the most boring place in the world at the moment (because so am I), but I can still rec the good fic...

Here's another ficrec. SGA for once too...
Silence (NC17 for adult/war themes, completely gen) by [livejournal.com profile] hugglewolf

I adore this fic for its wonderfully understated, yet spot-on sense of team. Its hurt/comfort, where Sheppard can be comforted, it can all stay gen and yet it's all in character and completely believable. It made me wibble. Just lovely!

Oh and by the by, did any of the other Aussies catch the new Ten ads last night - the "Believe" ones?

They had a new one. I think there was a bit of Dean and it had Tony (NCIS) saying "I believe that there are lot of sheep in Australia... but not as many as in New Zealand."

They also have an Australian one with Rove saying "I believe a watched kettle never boils... unless you plug it in."

*hearts those ads*

Ooh, just for my reference mostly...
Jared on Youtube. That boy can really roll his eyes. It would make an amusing icon! :P
Hee and Jared telling people he's gonna get naked. *facepalm*
