Turns out that for some reason they have been paying me extra each month, so they did give me the whole scholarship, just three months early.

I am baffled still as to why they felt the need to do that, but now I feel a little guilty.

See, they are looking into getting me some more pay starting asap, but maybe I should just suck it up and use my savings for the next 2 months, since I guess that's why I have managed to save. I was getting more money without realising it.

Plus, apparently if my supervisor pays me from the hospital, he can't pay me tax free, because the hospital isn't allowed to pay students or some such. So, they have to hire me as a research assistant or some tripe. No doubt that will be weird since full-time students can only work so many hours.

Yes, I am confused. I'm told there will be much paperwork.

So yesterday I got my payslip and was baffled by the fact that it contained half the mulah it usually does.

Just got word from TPTB that according to the paperwork pushing people from up high, my scholarship ended on Dec 31. BASTARDS! Give me the other 3 months you owe me now! *sulks*

The nice new admin lady says she can get me another 3 weeks while I poke my supervisors and see if money falls out.

Still, I... sometimes life just throws you lemons!

As if I'm not already frustrated at the extra experiments that suddenly need doing and the fact that I can no longer finish in March... ie. I have to find some money from somewhere as it is.

I'll just be over there in the corner sulking and tearing my hair out...

My back has been killing me, especially my neck and shoulders, because I sit still too often and I hunch over my laptop etc. I asked about it today, because ouch pain! and was provided with a cordless keyboard and mouse and a laptop stand. SWEET! This is so much better!

I also bought a book yesterday about backpain and how to avoid it, which gives some simple tips for people that work at computers a lot (among other things). I can post some of them a bit later if anyone is interested.

Yeah, so two little conferences, one three minute talk and a poster presentaation, a 75th anniversary of my building, and some bad news (my wonderful grandmother is doing poorly) later...

Hello all. *sigh*

I'm back to the daily grind, tired, kinda feeling woogly for no reason, and I need to get writing on that thesis and I'm so uninspired. Lucky I joined wrisomifu (Write Something You Miserable Fuck - an alternative to NaNoWriMo), which happily counts my PhD thesis in the definition of "something". I think my fan fic is getting more written on it than the damn thesis though.

Yay! I've written the majority of two chapters and my supervisors were happy with me in the meeting today. OMG! *dies of shock* Happy!

I'll take my conference poster over for printing tomorrow. Conference at a beach-side resort. Oh yeah! I am so skipping out on a few sessions. I think there's a pool at the posh hotel we're booked into as well.

yokiem and I got free stuffed-toy dragons today from a drug company rep. (plus biscuits and a pillow case). HIs name is now Sven - the purple gay sumo-wrestling champion dragon. Don't ask. Just nod.

BUT, I need to learn to withhold the truth goddamnit, because now my student interview for third year say things like "lacks motivation and may need follow-up!"
