This birthday should be an interesting one. On one hand it's going to scoot by almost unnoticed and on the other people are making a big deal about it. It's only a number, right. I think I had my crisis over it 2 years ago. Least I hope so. ;)

Edit: It isn't my birthday just yet, sorry to be so unclear... still over a week to go. :)

Um, I tried to get the present you asked for, but ( it's not quite world peace... )

It was my birthday today...still is for a few hours. One of those uneventful numbered ones and I'm lazy and didn't really plan anything.

This evening yokiem and P took me out to dinner, paid the bill, and

...GAVE ME A SONIC SCREWDRIVER! *Bounce*

It has a UV light and special ink, so you can write Sekrit Messages!! And it makes the authentic sonic screwdriver noise too. Hee!

I also had cake at work, and lots of lovely messages from the f-list during the day. Thank you guys!


I also want to say thanks for the wonderful Valentine's messages you guys left me. It really made me smile on a day I generally pretend doesn't exist. Oh and thanks reedfem for the adorable penguin e-card. *big smiles*

Firstly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATIE (_wwsd_) for yesterday!!! Hope it was grand!

Secondly, there is sentence that should be banned from all scientific talks...

"As everyone well knows [insert some random scientific fact here]"

If everyone knew it, you wouldn't be talking about it now would you? Whay make us all feel silly for not knowing the most basic concept of an area you have been researching in minute detail for most of your scientific career? *shakes head* Silly sentence. In this morning's talk, the girl said it at least five times. Yes, I'm sure everyone knows all about it. [/sarcasm]

Thirdly, newkidfan has kindly posted high res caps of Heroes 1x1 over at her icon journal blimey_icons. Find them here. I am already addicted to this show. The first episode drew me in, the second cemented it and I am awaiting the third happily. Yay, a new television love. Like I need any more. :)

Thankyou for the lovely hugs and cuddles offered up to the altar of my whining LJ post. You're all too sweet, but it really did make me feel happier. Life is much better today, and I must remind myself of my LJ mantra... My LJ is my HAPPY place!!

I'm printing what I'm told is a very cute child!John fic to read on the bus home tonight (must. resist. reading. now.), plus I have SG1 episodes and the RR Rinne and I are working on. Oh and then there's some papers that I should summarise for my PhD lit review...*cough*

Only bad thing about the whole weekend is I seem to have picked up my dad's cold. Bleh! For the first time in a very long time, I have a runny nose and a sore throat! *pours herself more tea* For some reason I always catch colds from my dad, but then he doesn't get sick often either.

Oh and I bought 'The Dark Crystal'...yep I'm still going back to childhood with the DVD's! Hee!
*makes evil Skeksy noise* MmmmmMMmmm!
