Small (18mb - Right click and download)
Large (38mb - Right click and download) Apparently this file is doing something funky, so for the moment try the YSI link below for the large version, while I reupload. Thanks I've reuploaded. Fingers crossed it works. *sigh*

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] arwen75 for server space. *hugs*

The large file is apparently not downloading properly, so maybe someone could try This YSI link for me...please. Thanks!

Okay, chalk up another who only got a tiny bit of the large version before it cuts out. I don't know what might be going wrong. Maybe you might like to upload it to sendspace or YSI or something until you can work out what the glitch is.

I got the small version to work fine and loved it.

But constructive criticism? As [livejournal.com profile] mcalex22 said, you did mention that you'd gebuinely likie some. Okay. Hmmm... Some changes that I'd make if I were vidding it would be...

In the beginning when you have the letters Y-M-C-A over the scenes, I think that's a great idea and liked the look of it, but I think it would be better if you used a bigger font. Maybe even a MUCH bigger font. What would look really cool IMHO would be if you could the letter moving "forward" and filling up the picture and then making that the transition into the next picture. But that just an idea that I think would look cool - making it work is another matter entirely...

And I think it would be a bit more effective if you accentuated the "Y-M-C-A" bits of the chorus somehow. You could do it with fast cuts like you have with those trumpety toot bits of the music (and look at my highly technical music jargon!). Or maybe something else. Maybe an overlay of the letters again. Maybe you could use the same scene and stead of cutting to another scene you could change the colour tone or the brightness or jump to a "close up" on each letter. It just seems to me that it's that part of the chorus that really sticks in people's minds - the bit that they bop to most, as it were. I think it would be good to highlight it visually.

But I did really enjoy it. I did particularly like the fast cuts on the trumpety bits. And laughed out loud at some of scene match-ups. Great stuff.

BTW - would Yokiem be the person who saw "V for Vendetta" with you, [livejournal.com profile] mcalex22 and me? If so, *waves* ;-)

Oh, and hope you had a good Anzac Day. Back to work tomorrow... *sigh*

Yeah Yokiem is A's super sekrit vidding name! *giggles*

Well this one was just a bit of fun, but we rather like the beginning and we didn't want to overdo it, so um yeah, agree to disagree on that one. *grins* We were trying to match people (mostly Rodney) to doing the Y bit, but yeah maybe colours would have been cool, but I don't think WMM does individual colours ...just that rainbow thingy (which we tried and it cracked us up *points at crazy and somewhat random McKay/Beckett scene :p)...unless you know something I don't. It would have been cool though. I did think of changing colours, but yeah...can you do that?
This is all my opinion btw...Yokiem so not here. :p

Hee my favourite is the hitting and throwing bit, which Yokiem put in and totally cracked me up. *grins*

I don't think I want to hear that song for a while though. It has been completely stuck in my head for over a week now and it's getting rather irritating. Hee!

Totally agree to disagree about it. Just a different choice to what I think I would have made - no better or worse.

With the WMM and colours thing... well the only way to change the timing of the colour change is to change the length of the clip that the effect is applied to (so if it's a long clip, you can cut it and apply the effect to the various sections). That's fiddly and may not work out the way you want it to, but it's the only way I know how to handle that colour change in WMM.

But you can cut the clip into sections where you want each "change" and then add an effect. It's been a little while since I vidded with WMM but there are things like sepia and b/w and increased brightness - which might give interesting visual variations. But I'm just musing out loud (okay, not really out loud but the cyberspace equivalent). Just throwing ideas into the ether.

LOL! I can relate to that!

Yeah, but can I pick a colour? It seems there's only rainbow as a choice and that would be annoying on every clip...though maybe I missed an effect setting or something? I know about the sepia and brightness, but not sure there are actually different colours as options. ??? Just genuinely interested. Maybe we'll have to buy a new program one day. I'm just too lazy to shop around for one, but god I'd love to be able to do non-linear editing.

From: [identity profile] derry667.livejournal.com

Nah, you can't pick a colour. You can just adjust the timing of the set of colours it chooses - ie the rainbow. It has its uses, but limited. The sepia and brightness are just changes in colour/effect that you might find useful - as a change in visual effect. But no, you can't choose the colour on them either.

I spent a long time fiddling with WMM to get around some of its limitations, but some genuinely are insurmountable. Once you get a new program, there is a "kid in a candy store" phase where you just have to try out all the new sweet things you can get your hands on. But all programs have their limits - and their bugs. It took me ages and a lot of help from [livejournal.com profile] amothea to get Ulead VideoStudio 9 up and running. And even that doesn't have true non-linear editing (I get around it by sticking a "black screen" pic in the bits I haven't got to yet and cutting that down/out when I fill in those blanks).

If you're interested in using Ulead, email me. (I must still have those instructions from [livejournal.com profile] amothea somewhere...)

*nods* That's what I thought. I did do the "kid in a candy store" thing with WMM, but in the end I decided that, except for a few effects (that would be good for certain things - most of which I haven't done yet, but have some plans for), WMM has a pretty annoying set of effects that I don't use much. I'd love to do a really cheesy vid and use them all though, just for the hell of it. :p

I may ask around for advice on a new program. It comes down to cost and usefulness and whether I can be bothered, since I don't vid that much.

Thanks hon. :D

Hey, if you ever do want to do that mega-cheesy all-effects-all-the-time vid, I've actually got some "plug ins" I downloaded from somewhere (can't remember where). But if you install them, you get a few more transition effects for WMM - things like limited splitscreen type effects. Can't remember the exact details but I must have the files somewhere. So if you want them, drop me a line and I'll dig them up and send them to you.

And I'm actually coming to the end of a relatively civilised day at work. Gee, I could really do with more days like today! It's been great!

*drops you a line*

Yes please! *big grin* Split screen especially would be rocking! I envy people with that ability! Are they small enough to email?
