Is there a corner of Teenwolf fandom out there that is gen.. or even just not Styles/Derek?
Just curious. I am always amazed how some fandoms get taken over by a single pairing.

Off to watch the latest ep.

Hee, we differ a bit. Though I totally respect your opinion.

I really have enjoyed a lot of the plot aspects. I quite enjoy the shirtless scenes and I have no problem (in fact I applaud) much of the gay content - having a teenage role model of an openly gay star athlete with a lot of straight friends is awesome and says a lot about how progressive society is finally becoming. The Scott/Allison relationship, in my opinion, is rather like teenage relationships everywhere - hot and cold and a bit lame to anyone forced to watch. Also not something that bothers me. I love the various characters, the funny moments... In fact I really I feel I get more out of the show than they ever intended. After all this is a show where the main season one DVD extra was a shirtless montage. You certainly can't accuse them of not understanding their audience.

Season 3 is so far rather confusing, but I think they will eventually put it all together. There's some plot in there, just not revealed yet.

My issue with fandom is, yes I get that there was a lot of amusing Stiles/Derek subtext. Roll with it, I really don't mind. I get it. But where is the gen, the het, the little moments people thought were missing from the show...other than the bits where Derek and Stiles did X?

When I start reading in a fandom, I'm not looking for PWP and to be honest I rarely am even later. It's not my thing. I'm looking for my favourite characters interacting as an extension of my show. But in some fandoms, it's just not there. *sad face*

So does this mean you're writing Teen Wolf fic, Miss? *bats eyelids* I want some gen... or something plotty. *nodnods* I'd totally settle for Derek & Stiles, rather than Derek/Stiles. Anyone got any of that? :)

Oh, I don't have an issue with there being a gay character/relationships - the TV industry does need to be more inclusive in that sense. What kind of made me frown during 3.01 was a feeling of "Story? We don't need no stinkin' story - let's just have everybody run around shirtless, and no one will care if there's a plot!" (Then, too... I think I'm a tad bit older than you are, and most of these guys are waaaaay too young for me to even ogle, so I get to feeling a little... awkward.)

The moment I remember was the two new guys. Twins? I started thinking, "Can they act? Are they actual people, or just more eye candy?"

But it could well be that I was in a non-receptive mood. There's a ton of stuff going on in RL for me, and it's got me feeling a little frayed. Not the best frame of mind to be tuning in to a new season of anything.

Fic? Unfortunately, I don't think so. I'm pretty much a ficcing monogamist, so my writerly brain is focused on SPN. But if I do come across any TW gen, I'll let you know!

Yeah, I had the same reaction to the twins. So far they are only eye-candy (for some reason they needed to clarify that one is gay, one straight) and I suspect they will remain that way. For eye-candy I mostly enjoy Derek... and Alison's Dad even. But I figure the actors for the other characters (like Scott) are old enough that I can perv a little and not feel guilty. I'm only just into my 30's though. :p
