I am so creeped out right now. I'm not sure I want to watch this show any more. I haven't felt anything more than disturbed after watching an episode for a while now. :(
Sorry! didn't mean to imply you are stupid, or naive. It's just that by coincidence my last post on my journal was precisely about people watching a couple of episodes of Dollhouse and then being all "I can't get a handle on this creepy show", and I ended up being lazy and channeling that in my comment.
But! The show does have a definite ending. The mythical season one, episode 13, set years in the future and found only on dvd (and, well, you know, around). As far as endings go, it is pretty definite. I personally found it rather satisfying, but as for answering questions your mileage may vary (they set up more than a few "how did it get to that?" storylines, but then if it didn't there wouldn't be much point continuing the series, right?) And, having seen that, I can say that I'm seeing a lot of details in season two working to build that future we glimpsed in that episode.
I did watch that future ep thingy. I don't really see it though. I guess the whole doing stuff remotely could be heading there, but I don't know that that is what they're doing secifically. I just thought it was a thinky "this could happen" scifi type episode because they needed to make one.
Anyway, sorry if I came across as harsh too. Just seemed like your post was saying we were all a pack of whiners. I actually haven't seen anyone else say anything negative about the show at all, so we must run in different circles.
All I know is that this season, for me, has moved beyond plot/story arc and into the realm of "let's see if this will be even more disturbing, just cos we can." I don't see where the point is anymore. *hands* You enjoy though. :)
