We do, but I think we prefer the insult "douche". Or maybe that's just my school.

Hrrrm, I think douche is too nice for this. Dean just shot a guy that shot Sam.

For context: He couldn’t believe he’d turned his back on the bastard without making sure he was dead.

Thank you, though. I do have a tendency to chuck British words into these things and someone always points them out and yeah... :P

I've heard it on tv, so yeah. They use very often on House.

Ah, it's on House... then it must be okay! Oh yeah! Heee!

Thank ye!

Course Hugh might be slipping those British terms in out of home sickness. :P

I can't think of specific examples of hearing it but I'm pretty sure I have. And in the context you cited to [livejournal.com profile] simply_cw it's definitely fine.

I've lived in Pennsylvania all my life and I use it quite frequently. Hmmmm, come to think of it I'm not sure what that says about my neighbors. ;p They way you are planning to use it is perfect.

Bastard also accessorizes nicely with words like "dumb ass", "mother f-ing", "dumb" and "slimy", among many others.

Out west, I don't think "bastard" is used as a direct epithet that much. Someone might say, "Oh, he's a real bastard," but if talking to someone, I'd expect someone to say, "You're a real asshole," or "you son of a bitch."

Depending on how pottymouth you want to be, "motherfucker" is probably the #1 of favorites, though. ;-) So it really depends on context.

If it's strictly CW verse, though, see my first paragraph - though maybe "asshole" won't apply? I'm no help ... *G*

For context, this was the sentence: He couldn’t believe he’d turned his back on the bastard without making sure he was dead.

I use "sonofabitch" as an expression of pain a little further down the page, so I was hoping to avoid using that one again so soon. :P

Mother fucker might work too though.

Thank you!

Ah, gotcha, now that I see the context.

Well, then I'd say if you're using real-world (as opposed to CW) language, if he's refering to someone who hurt Sam, he'd probably say "motherfucker." That's what most of the working class guys I know would say. ;-)

There is Starrylizard fic happening! *is gleeful*

*goes to add more realistic non-CW language* \o/

There is Starrylizard fic happening! *is gleeful*

Aww, thank you! I've been stalled on this one for ages. For some reason my brain decided to write three longer fics, they all stalled and I was too stubborn to write other stuff until I finished at least one of them. *facepalm*

I think I'm going to stick to short fics again from now on. But there is only one more scene left and I should hopefully have a complete rough draft of this one.

If I ever post it, there is going to be celebratory drabbles. :P
