It has been pointed out to me that my LJ colouring may make my posts (and therefore my fics) hard to read. I wasn't aware of that, since obviously I picked colours that I find soothing and easy to read, but I can see how other people may find the blue-on-blue to be tough. Therefore, I was just wondering if anyone else has this problem?

Therefore, if anyone at all is passing through my journal, I'd appreciate it if you could please take the simple polls below and comment if you have any suggestions for me.

[Poll #944318]

If you find it hard to read, why is that?

[Poll #944319]

Thanks for that. :D

Also, I notice that some people have their journal set up so that when you click on an entry it defaults to a simple white background with black writing (no style sheet). I can't seem to find a way for my LJ layout to do this though. Is there a checkbox on the journal style editing page somewhere that I'm missing? Do people find the black on white easier to read?

Much appreciated.

You have to go to your 'change design' page (or whatever it is called in English *g*) and click on 'custom options'. Under "presentation" there should be something like ยป Disable customized comment pages for your journal. To get the standard layout for your LJ, you have to change this into "Yes" and save. Then it should work.

I myself don't have problems reading your LJ - but nevertheless I generally prefer the standard layouts because it's simpler to read and I'm not always distracted by pictures and such. But that's just me ;)

Thanks. I wondered if it was that button, but since it was talking about comments I decided it was the wrong one. :P

I may try it later. :)

Hi. Wandering through on friendsfriends.

The colors don't make your journal unreadable, but if I were reading a longer entry like a fic, I'd probably prefer it was higher contrast.

I also think I clickied "something else," meaning to say the font size was kind of small, but then I realized it's the same size as my own style, maybe a teeny bit skinnier. So it might be the font plus the colors that makes me think it's a little difficult.

Either way, yup, the "disable custom comment pages" thingy will make individual entries show up in LJ default, which is pretty easy for everyone to read in.

Thanks for the feedback.

With font size, I usually just use ctrl + "mouse scroll" to make the font bigger in my browser. Don't know if that helps people. I thought everyone did that.

I think I'll just disable cutom comment for the moment.

Cheers

Also wandering here via fof list.

I'm fond of blue so I like the coloring of your journal in general. I do think the blue background in your textbox is too dark, though--too close to the actual text color--to read comfortably for long. Maybe you could keep it blue but make it several shades lighter?

I don't think it's totally the "blue on blue" thing, but for my eyes there just isn't enough contrast and the text is a little smaller than I like. I do the Firefox "increase text size" thing and it makes it both bigger and darker for me. Increasing the darkness of the text would probably make my eyes happier. But, it's your layout. And my eyes are old.

I have no problems reading your layout, although I could see how some folks might. I love when you tweak your LJ and ask questions because I always learn something. :D

W3 Color Contrast Analyser - This will tell you if your text and background color are too similar for people to read in general or those who are have vision problems, including being color blind.

Cool! Though I don't really want to dl the program. Is there an online version anywhere? Thanks

I'm not sure if there's an online version. You might just hit up Google.

IMHO... It's pretty. But the blue-on-blue, the text is not dark enough, I have to strain my eyes to see it. Not that it matters to me too much as I usually read your entries from my brown-on-yellow flist, anyway. *hug*
