I found a nest o' spiders in my car boot (trunk for you Americans) this afternoon and dealt with the three large spiders and nest o' baby ones without too much squealing and I was very proud.

BUT... I just found another nest of them IN MY KITCHEN! Ahhhhhhhhrrrrg!

Killed them. Sorry to the pacifists, but I really can't capture and release that many, no way na ahh, not gonna happen. The momma spider was BIG too, maybe 2cm long and all bulbousy!

Anyway, I'm now creeped out. Really creeped out. They were in my house. I'm jumping at shadows... I looked them up on the web and they may be black house spiders, which are apparently venomous, but not lethal. Well could be worse I guess. *whimpers and hides*

I feel like an old nanny with bad nerves. Where's Zelenka when I need him?

Eeek! Spiders! I hate spiders! Having a nest of them in my car or in the kitchen - oh the horrors!

Kudos to you, you were very brave dealing with them! I guess I would have screamed a bit and my legs would have given out or something. Did I already mention that I hate spiders?

From: [identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com

Yes. *nods* I thought I was very brave too. But I didn't have anyone else I could call, so I just did it.

I really dislike creepy crawlies, especially because here in Australia we have the added delight of some of the most deadly creepy crawlies in the world. *shudders*

*points behind you* SPIDERS! RUN!

:P

Actually, well done. Congrats. I think it's great that you managed to get the first nest out alive!

Especially given that you live in Sydney. You have FUNNEL WEBS. 0.o

(My rule for spiders: If I know they're not venomous (or I'm unsure and they're small) they get to live. If they're big and/or I know they're venomous, they get to meet Mr Shoe.)

From: [identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com

Meep! Where? *runs*

Hee, I wasn't that kind. I cleaned them off with a broom and then sprayed the boot with bug spray, because I just know that if one popped up while I was driving I'd so crash. So if they didn't already make themselves known they may have met their end via bug spray. I really cannot stand them in my house though. I have to sleep here!!!

Funnel webs tend to live in the ground, so I was pretty sure it wasn't one of those. I think they may have been these black spider things which can bite and cause all sorts of nasty symptoms, but apparently won't kill you. :(

*uses her exhorcist icon* Seems appropriate somehow. :P

A broom is still works!

I really cannot stand them in my house though. I have to sleep here!!!

Oh, yes. Spiders in my room don't survive very long. In the lounge room, it's a little different. (I came out the other morning to discover a rather large huntsman hanging onto the curtain. Me: *flail* However, it was a huntsman so I did the container+magazine thing.)

Funnel webs terrify me! I've never seen one before but the whole most-venomous-spider-in-the-world thing isn't very conducive to "Ooh, I love you spider!" Yay QLD and it's lack of them.

Well, the not-dying thing is good.

Your icon is indeed very appropriate. *searches own* I'll use the guy who kills monsters.

Hehe! Also very appropriate.

Hullo!

Evil, evil spiders!

Also, the resort from the other entry looks awesome! And yay for the convention! I think Jess said something ages ago about going with you, but I'm sorry I don't have any money - so that's all me.

Glad you had a good time, though! :D Even if there are spiders attacking you from every direction ...

From: [identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com

Heya, that's ok about the con. Jess said you were both saving for other stuff and I think all cons are probably similar and you went to that big one earlier.

Yesss, the spiders should not be in my kitchen. Bad spiders!!

The resort was of the awesome. So pretty nd the weather was great for the most part -- warm even when it rained.

From: [identity profile] wickedalchemist.livejournal.com

Aw, but still! We didn't get to go with you!

Evil, evil things! I had a dream about 'em last night.

Yay! Resorts sound just ... gah, so relaxing and everything ever that was good :)

From: [identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com

True my marvellous company would have made it much better. *nods*
Though I think I was a little mystified by the whole experience. :P

Oh and hey, I'm in Melbourne over Christmas again this year, though only 4 days either side of Christmas. Maybe we could catch a movie again or something. Take more silly photos. I sent the other ones to you right? I think we are staying in the city.

From: [identity profile] wickedalchemist.livejournal.com

Yes'm! The experience was just a whole big huge real dream! (That made sense in my head ... kiiiind of)

Oh - yay! We should - that was awesomely fun last time :D And yes, I believe you did 'cuz they're on the other computer somewhere.

From: [identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com

Yup, I was just like...oooh look crazy people...ooh hang on I must be one of them... OMG hee! And then there was David Nykl and he's gorgeous! I mean he's very handsome in person. And Rachel is so serious in a sweet way. :)

Cool! There's usually some good movies out over Christmas. Or we can just wander between bookshops again and eat icecream! :P

This (http://www.cosmosmagazine.com/node/771) is amusing me. The internet as an addiction. They actually compare it to drugs and alcohol. :P

From: [identity profile] wickedalchemist.livejournal.com

*snickers* Oh, dear, I must have an unhealthy addiction to the internet! :P

Aw, yay! Did you get autographs and photos and - what did they say and such?

Yes! Yay for ice cream and bookshops!

From: [identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com

Yeah we got photos. The one with Rachel is terrible of me...my eyes were shut, but the one with David is nice. Plus we got group shots with Rachel.

I'll put a sort of brief synopsis in my LJ later. I was waiting on the photos that Derry scanned for us. David is gorgeous though. He's got such a sense of humour and he kept trying to rescue Rachel because she's really serious. Plus both Rachel and Tony sang for us. :)

Yep! Thanks. Took me a while to get to sleep last night. Stupid bugs had me a little freaked.

(Yep we use the British name for it here in Oz, which is a boot. In Canada people laughed very hard at that. *shrugs* In this one case, I admit that trunk makes more sense as a term for a storage place in ones car. *smiles*)

Eeew! I would be freaking out too if I was you. I'm not really afraid of spiders, but I HATE the thought of a nest of them in my kitchen. *shudders* I hope you got rid of them all!

From: [identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com

I'm sure a few of the little buggers got past me, but I got rid of the main nest and the moma spider. *nods* It's that time of year. I'll have to spray around all the little gaps in my house again.
