I'd like to point out (because yes I am a little bit righteous on this point and it came up several times in comments to both
rinkle's and my own fic) that the abbreviation Dr doesn't have to have a period after it (ie. Dr.) and usually doesn't in Australian english. This is a regional thing.

Fan fiction is, in a way, based on plagiarism though, so it's hard for me to know where people have to draw the line. This seems to be an issue of great debate at the moment. Perhaps it should have been declaired though.
