Hmmm. There's still hope for SG1. link

I'm still in [livejournal.com profile] atlantis_lvw! I'm shocked! My latest story was called "Some Assembly Required" should you be interested. It so got slammed in review received some rather interesting comments. *grins* I still like this negative stuff. Does that make me rather strange?

I'd like to point out (because yes I am a little bit righteous on this point and it came up several times in comments to both [livejournal.com profile] rinkle's and my own fic) that the abbreviation Dr doesn't have to have a period after it (ie. Dr.) and usually doesn't in Australian english. This is a regional thing.

I liked it! With company I didn't get to vote, but I did get around to rating a few, and I gave that one a pretty solid rating! :D

not really related, but your icon? Galaxy Quest quote + SGA Rodney pic = AWESOMENESS.

From: [identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com

Yes it is! Blame it on [profile] shoemoney2night who loves putting quotes on SGA. She made a whole heap of TWW quote ones that were pretty funny too (points at icon). Though I don't watch TWW.

I thought so. I picked that one as yours and the fire one (which was cute and didn't deserve to die...not that any of them do!) as CW's.

You did? What made you figure out it was me? *curious*

Other than the fact I hardly write anything that's not McKay/Sheppard. *coughs*

The McShep is a giveaway, but it was also a bit cracky and AU, which from the fics of yours that I have read, is also something you would easily fall into writing. It was still just a guess though. There were fewer McShep pieces this week, so it was easier to guess. People just have their own styles. :)

[livejournal.com profile] _wwsd_ correctly picked mine last week before I told her, which I thought was cool! :)

Cool! I have my own writing style! *laughs*

But, seriously. Very, very cool. *g*

the fire one deserved to die because it was plagiarized from the opening scene of The West Wing episode "The Leadership Breakfast".

Oh, well I don't watch TWW, so I wouldn't know. I suppose this is a touchy topic atm with the who HP fandom and that lady (somebody-Claire?) and also a valid reason if it makes the other stories seem more original.

Fan fiction is, in a way, based on plagiarism though, so it's hard for me to know where people have to draw the line. This seems to be an issue of great debate at the moment. Perhaps it should have been declaired though.

In this case, we're talking almost word-for-word lifing of lots of the lines, and a complete and total copy of the scene overall.

This is so far over the line that the line is barely even visable. But don't just take my word for it. I'm an anonymous commenter. Here is a link to a transcript site containing the transcript for this scene.

The scene ends with the President's aide saying to him: "Mr. President, you know how you told me not to wake you up unless the building was on fire?"
