First a ficrec:

This is a Teyla/Rodney friendship story and it's just really different. There is a lot of Rodney whumpage and Teyla seems rather out of character at the beginning, but it is all for a reason you just have to keep reading. I just love how she slowly develops the mutual respect between McKay and Teyla which slowly turns to friendship. And I love how it's all developed via interweaving the present with past missions.
Random real life weekend facts and such:
The plane trip home was fun. The extra money was worth it for the delighted look on mum and dad's face when I met them at the airport and for the fun of going up and down in the plane -- just never gets old for me. I love planes. Whee!
The weekend wedding was fun, and it was a very small wedding, so I was touched to be invited. I also caught up with another old uni/college (yr 11 and 12) buddy that I haven't seen in ages. The bride and groom looked so happy it made me teary eyed and my friend and I were possible the only single gals in the room. (I'm not that old am I?? Eeep!)
Drank waaay too much (really good) red wine at the reception and went home kinda thouroughly tipsy. They were doing that 'top up your glass while you aren't looking' thing.
My dad is a big sook. I lost track of the number of times he tackleglomped me in the two days I saw them. Each time he'd mumble in my ear "three months of hugs to catch up on." Hee!
My sis had wonderful pictures of all their travels. They went to Peru and climbed Machu Pitchu (sp?), as well as visiting relatives in Europe and Canada.
Sis scolded me for getting her hubby hooked on Stargate Atlantis. *grins*
Finally, a fandom thing, I finished the latest
atlantis_lvw story and posted it before heading to the wedding. Last week of challenges, so everyone go check them out tomorrow (Monday in America) and vote. Should be some interesting stories there. I feel priveledged to be in it 'til the end. :)
