Awwww! I just spent the weekend farewelling everyone. Kinda sniffle-worthy really!
Both my parents have headed off overseas. They left seperately to visit various friends and relatives, before they will meet up in Holland for three months sebatical leave. Dad will be working and mum is tagging along to take in the sights and such.
My sister was heading back from a conference, so she met up with us to farewell everyone yesterday and then stayed over today. She's really sick with "the dreaded lurgy", so she was much more sedate company than usual. We shopped for CD's (*cough* like I need any more) and we watched the muppets today.
Mum stayed the Friday night at my place and so did my sis, so we had a nice Korean restaurant meal and then mum got a taxi out in the wee hours of the morning. She promptly sent me a text message from the airport saying she was all emotional and blubbering over her breakfast. Awwww!
Yesterday, before he left, dad asked me if I could get him some slide coverslips from my lab and give them to my sister to take back to his lab. Apparently he decided all biological labs have coverslips, so I could obtain some for him. This is most amusing to me, because my dad is so dead honest that he pays for non-work-related photocopying by the page...and here he has me sneaking in to steal lab supplies for him. *grins*
We met dad in the airport before he left and because of the flight to Sydney being delayed we only had about 15 minutes to say our farewells. Dad somehow managed to move the seats around the table we were at, so that both my sister and I were right up next to him and he kept hugging us, claiming he needed a three month supply. It was pretty cute. *squidges my dad* ...and people wonder why I'm such a hug-obsessed thing!
When my sister left this morning to go back home, it was kinda surreal. Seriously farewelled out here.
Now I'm going to head off to see Superman with Yokiem. I hope it's good. Oh and check out her new vid (previous post). It's really artistic! Tango Atlantis!! *grins*
I've been vidding lately too, but nothing quite so artistic. Just a bit of sillyness.
