Like, really? WTF?
That ending just doesn't work for me at all. Or maybe I'm not quite understanding it, but I think I am.

Gene Hunt as a guiding light is tru fax, but I didn't need it to be literal.
I still love show. Just not that bit. *shrugs* I'm glad there was a S3, because I love the characters.

As I stayed away from spoilers until we could watch this as a family, I have no idea if this is an opinion shared by any of fandom. Sorry if it's not.

I now have a burning desire to re-watch Life on Mars.
I miss Sam Tyler so much after this season.

I think the ending was very much signposted during S3. I personally felt a little underwhelmed but also sad that Gene was left alone again! Personal choice didn't seem to come into it! And I think I would have prefered Gene as a supernatural force rather than a lost soul, Would have a been a great take on what angels are really like.

Hmm, could have been. I personally just loved not having a reason for the whole thing. It was just brilliantly random. No explanation would have satisfied me, I guess. So S2 ending is my canon ending, I think. I'm find with that.

I was, indeed, an odd ending. I kinda liked how they used the pub as the gateway to Heaven though!

Still prefer Life on Mars. And Simmy is disturbingly hot in real life...
