Don't buy one.

Seriously, I have been back and forward via email with their help team for well over a week now and they can't tell me why the software doesn't work.

They keep telling me it's my system rather than their program, but I pass all their little tests and now I've finally sent them a screen cap showing I do indeed have the latest Microsoft service pack installed.

The most annoying part is they have a phone number for help that doesn't work and their customer support team isn't answering me and no matter how many times I ask the tech help people (who are polite, but honest to god it's to the point where you'd need to be a genius to understand wtf they are asking me to do) they just ignore the bit where I ask how to return the faulty goods.

I'm fed up. If they don't tell me this week, I'm going to phone consumer affairs and get the down low. iTunes works on all systems. How hard can it be to make their software run on my system. The software (that was almost identical as far as I can tell) for my Creative Zen Vision: M ran fine on my system.

I guess if I can ever return this thing I may have to join the iPod tragics among you.

Grrr. *sad puppy*

:(

Back to the iriver for me then. I was looking forward to the 32gb, iriver is only 8.

Yeah. I had a Microsoft Zune (actually 2 because the first one died)... and the software was a big ol' pain.

And then the second one died.

And now I have an Ipod.

I've got a no-name brand $20 mp3 player that's a little annoying to use but it works so far and I don't do anything complicated with it anyway. It's teeny and just plays mp3s but that's all I wanted and for $20 it's pretty good. *knocks wood*

=( Sorry to hear that it didn't work out - and you were so looking forward to it too.

Aww, I'm sorry your new program is giving you trouble! Hopefully, it either gets fixed or you are able to return it for a full refund.

I'm convinced that the world is made up of imbeciles. Customer service is the most unhelpful thing in the universe. I was calling 3 places back and forth to make a doctor's appointment today. *sigh* Idiots.

Feel better! It'll be ok! *hugs*

It's weird. Like the player seems to be working fine. I'm sure it is't the hardware. The software just won't run or the bits that do won't knowledge the player is plugged in. So frikkin weird. *hands*

The previous Creative player I had worked fine. I have the feeling they made this one in order to compete with iPod (touchscreen and is supposed to accept mac files) and somehow they haven't done enough development to make it work.

Yeah, but I like a lot of features that Creative offers (and worked fine on my Vision:M). And I like a lot of hard drive space, but yeah...this is looking to be a bust.

Thanks, I hope so. I really do. It was my new job splurge, so it bums me out it won't work. :(

Just did a bit of a search:

However, the software that came with the thing was complete sh*t. Out of the box: sync problems, driver downloads, ZERO help from their support (via website).

Yes I saw that before I bought the item, but it was one comment out of a LOT of reviews I searched and Amazon comments. Most people complained about the touchscreen or use of the software (the software was always clunky), but that was the only one saying it wouldn't load or even work. Plus their tech support are TRYING to help, they just don't seem to be able to. *le sigh*
