Yet another way my computer is trying to screw me over. :(

Tonight my computer is not reading the stuff on my external hard drive. Like, at first I thought it had reformatted it and I was all "nooooooo!" But then I realised the properties still tell me Free space: 556Gb, Total size: 931Gb which means the information is still there, but my computer is only bringing up a blank.

I tried restarting several times and plugging it back in, which usually fixes issues with hard drives for my compy, but it's not working this time. :(

help... *squeak*

All my media files, not to mention that was the back up for my stupid hard drive of fail. :(

EDIT: Freaking a bit... Seems everyone has this problem... O_O

Oh man, I'm really sorry. :/ I don't really have any good suggestions for you to do on hand. I'd say your next step is either to call the help line of the brand of your external, or google that brand plus your problem. Others might have had the same issue.

It's just the last thing I needed tonight. *head desk* The Maxtor site has all these help topics, but they're pretty unhelpful and it looks like the company has been bought out by SeaGate. I'm looking for forums as I type. I've decided to buy a new computer. I'm so sick of this crap. I don't know if this is my computer's fault or the hard drive itself, but it's pretty typical atm. Well the other thing I can suggest is if you can take it somewhere and try plugging it into another computer. Not just your dad's as it has issues with USB. Or if you find a help number on the site, try talking to a human.

So far I have mostly found sites where people tell you not to buy Maxtor and rant about their customer service/help being non-existent. I also just found a forum witha bunch of people asking for help with basically exactly what just happened to mine... so this is looking bad.

Lizzie is not happy. :(

I'll maybe see if someone else has a computer that might run it. Maybe one of the IT ladies at work can help me. *sigh*
