Okay, so here's the deal. I have two longer Supernatural case fic WIPs that are sitting about on my hard drive and I'd like to finish them. They're both set during the early seasons of Supernatural... pre-deal.
The first one is called virtual Sacrifice and has a plot. Actual plot, I know! My issue is I get bogged down in the geographical stuff, because it is set in actual American places and I've never been to them. So, if I concentrate on it, I will require help from Americans friends and no doubt bitch about my lack of knowledge.
erinrua, this is the one we made that nice map for... you know with the linky lines and the computer game. :) This one has a rather geeky plot, so it excites me more and I really want to write it, but I keep getting stuck on the geography aspect. How hot would it be? What kind of houses are there in city X? Is there a university nearby? etc. *facepalm*
Excerpt:
The address they drove to was in the middle of a white-picket-fence suburb, all neat lawns and happy families. It was the kind of place that Dean claimed to despise, and where Sam longed to belong. The house was smaller than the ones around it, like the other houses had all been renovated or rebuilt, but this one had stood the test of time. It had to be at least four bedrooms, yet it looked like a cottage wedged between the family palaces that had sprung up around it, winter roses creeping across lattice and brickwork alike.
Sam walked up the stairs to the front stoop, his footsteps causing the old wooden slats to creak and groan with each move he made. At the door, Dean leaned casually against the doorbell for just that bit longer than was polite, and Sam looked at him, rolling his eyes.
“What?” Dean asked, shrugging further into his suit jacket as if to hide from the slight chill in the breeze.
The door opened before Sam could answer and they both turned to face the old woman that was now peering out at them from behind the safety of a security door.
The other one was originally started for a prompt that went: Character(s): Dean, Sam, any others characters; Timeline: Season 1; I'd like it to fit in after 'Hellhouse' (1.17); Prompts- soap, highlighter, gas station; I'd love to see a case file out of this! and so it has all that stuff in it. Seriously, it does! It is actually a case file wrapped up in a case file. Yep, it also has a plot, although not an ending as yet. I'm a little vague on the ending, but it should be fine. It also has a heavy hurt!Dean and protective!Sam aspect to it.
Excerpt:
A sudden draft of cold air had him bringing his head up slowly, water dripping off his face as he forced his eyes to focus.
There on the mirror, in highlighter pink, were the words:
You’re next.
“Fuck!” Dean spun around, crouching low as the knife blade narrowly missed his throat, instead slicing a gash through his shoulder.
Anyway, I've decided to try to finish them both. It'll probably be that I write them in whatever order the muse ends up demanding, but hey can't hurt to ask and see right?!
So, click the poll below if you feel in the mood. After all, it'll be you guys that end up listening to me whine while I write. :P

On another note; I'm in the US too so if you need help, I'd be glad to lend it. I know how it is when writing out of your element; wrote Pirates of the Caribbean for quite a number of years (I know
Just a thought regarding posting before finishing; I did that with one PotC story and to this day I regret it. Totally happened when my Beta left the fandom due to lack of interest and then I had a plot hole a mile long after posting. Had 8 chapters ready for beta but the plot hole and lack of beta.. blah..it blew up in my face. It sits as a black mark for me at ffnet.
I have a case!fic I'm working on for SPN, my first LONG fic for this fandom and mainly, because of my experience in the PotC fandom and issues with RL, I'm waiting to finish before I post. Now, it's important that if you do that to have a person in your corner who will nag, harass, cheer, read and kick you into action, keep you going.
For me, I don't need the stress of getting a few chapters up then feel guilty when RL gets in the way of finishing or posting sooner. Not that there will be much interest (other than my own) to read it, but still...
So, again, lemme know if you need help. I beta for two other gals, but it sounds like that's not the issue for you. If you just need help in certain areas, I'll chime in. You can email me anytime or IM me on Yahoo.
Just hollar!

Oh, also, sorry if I confused you with the title of the post. I don't post wips... it's just when I'm writing I whine a lot on locked or unlocked posts and bully people into discussing it with me etc. So the writing aspect of it - how much I've written when or how much I'm failing to write it - is public. :P

But writing is where I find my center, my escape so feel free to poke me when you have an issue with which ever fic you decide to focus on.

P.S. Forgot to say, it goes both ways, so feel free to nudge me for a chat any time. I'm mostly a GTalk chick, but email or MSN or just a PM are doable too! :)
