Pick a letter, choose a prompt word, then a fandom and a character or a pairing (Please see (1) below). (Example, Q is for question, Supernatural, Sam.) And I'll write something for the prompt. Or at least I will try.

(1) I reserve the right to make any pairing into friendship (Gen) situation if I'm uncomfortable with the pairing or my muse just prefers to go there instead.

Also, I reserve the right to ask for another character if I have no idea of who the one you are referring to is (particularly if they're minor characters).

Fandoms: Supernatural, Stargate: Atlantis, Fringe, Doctor Who (Tenth Doctor), Merlin, The Listener, Numb3rs (season 1), Kyle XY (s1 to s2x16 so far) and others... just try me with something I might know and I'll get you to try again if I can't write it.

I'll add the prompts to the list as they come in and I'll get to them as I can. :)

I is for Insomnia, Arthur (Merlin)

I is for Insomnia, Arthur, Merlin

Arthur sighed, smacking a fist down onto the mattress in anger. He flipped over on to his back and opened his eyes to stare at the ceiling, finally resigned to the fact that there was no sleep to be had, hadn't been all night - this despite him being absolutely exhausted.

He could feel the sting of his gritty eyeballs rolling around in tired eyes, the aching of every muscle in his tense body and the sweat cooling to a sticky sheen as it dried on his bare chest and made his skin feel over-tight and itchy.

"That is it!" he growled to his empty chambers, throwing off the covers and bouncing to his feet with a low sound of disgust.

It was a relief to finally give up the pretence of sleep and just do something, anything. But now that he was up, antsy and jittering like an over tired three-year-old, what was he to do?

Arthur's eyes darted rapidly around his chambers. As he took in his clothes and training gear, carefully set out for the morning, a thought hit him and his mouth curled of its own accord in to a mischievous grin - the sort of grin that, when seen on a young child, makes one look for the hidden stash of sugar.

Pulling off his night clothes, he quickly slipped into his breeches and stomped into his boots, pulled down his sword and then grabbed another one... this one for for Merlin. After all - he thought a little wickedly, as he peered out at the sun that was just beginning to peep up over the castle walls - Merlin could use some more sword practice.

Re: I is for Insomnia, Arthur (Merlin)

Hey, I'd completely forgotten about this! I love it! I'll remember Arthur if I'm lying awake sweating in the heat we've been promised over the next couple of days. (I always get heat-induced insomnia.) 40 degrees tomorrow! I wonder if I could cancel church?

But no matter how much difficulty I find going to sleep I don't think I'll take the sword-practice option.

HAhaha! Brilliant!

S is for silence, Toby, The Listener. ('come on, The listener needs some fic!)

From: [identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com

S is for silence, Toby, The Listener.

Most people take silence for granted - those moments of quiet solitude, where you can think and order your thoughts.

For Toby, it felt like he was never completely alone. He liked to say the secret wasn’t in hearing people’s thoughts; the secret was in making it stop.

If he relaxed and stood down his self control, the whole world would rush in and it felt like drowning. His personal thoughts were so easily washed aside by those of the people in his immediate vicinity, let alone the thousands of internal voices in a city the size of Toronto. He couldn’t count the number of nights he awoke to a neighbour’s nightmare or the many times he let his guard down at work. An accidental hit off someone feeling less than well could leave his stomach feeling queasy for hours.

Now and again, when keeping himself together started to feel like too much, Toby would escape. It was Ray’s idea originally. Back when he was a frightened boy coming to terms with a lot more than any kid should have to. They’d take a tent and basic supplies and camp in the middle of nowhere, or, in colder weather, they’d find a cabin with cheap rent and the barest of facilities.

There, standing alone under the open sky, with miles of nothing but leaves and rocks and wildlife, he could finally relax, open up his mind to the silence and just be.

Seconding the need for Listener fic, so how about F for friendship, Oz, The Listener. :D

Yay! The Listener! :)

Toby settled into the car seat, sliding down and closing his eyes with a sigh.

“Hey, Toby. Don’t take this the wrong way man, but you look awful. You not sleeping or something?”

Oz tackled things in his own way, usually that meant head on as long as there wasn’t any immediate danger. Toby liked that the most about his friend. What Oz said out loud was usually pretty similar to what Oz thought; it made life a whole lot simpler for someone with Toby’s talents.

“Hey, Toby. You listening to me? ‘cause if you’re not sleeping, you know, that’s something I aught to know… as your work partner and all. You know, if you’re gonna fall asleep on the job or something.”

Toby opened his eyes, his lips twitching up into a wry grin. “I’m fine, Oz. Really. I just had a late night. I’m not going to fall asleep on the job.”

Oz sighed, his run-on sentences from a moment ago continuing on as run-on thoughts that Toby’s other senses picked up loud and clear - thoughts of people who had fallen asleep at inopportune moments and ended up in strife. Some of them even ended up in the back of Oz and Toby’s Ambulance.

“Seriously, Oz. I’m fine.”

Oz glanced toward Toby, one eyebrow raised in disbelief. “So why aren’t you sleeping?” he asked. Don’t give me the same old crap about late nights. You’re beat.

Toby closed his eyes again and took a few slow breaths, trying to figure out the best way to phrase his latest revelation. He decided to take a leaf out of Oz’ book and come straight out with it.

Oz waited quietly for Toby to spill something interesting – small grin of triumph as his eyes darted between Toby and the road.

“Apparently, my name used to be William.”

I like this conversation with the telepathy mixed in.

And I'm happy someone is writing The Listener fanfic.

Okay, you're up first. For some reason this tickled my fancy! :)

K-9 bumped and rattled as he whizzed along at his fastest speed. Pieces of cotton and material were strung around the little metal dog’s neck and body, multi-coloured ribbons streaming out behind him.

“K-9, hurry!” The dog’s ear pieces swivelled about at the sound of the Doctor’s voice.

“I am moving at maximum velocity, Master” he replied.

The Doctor stood at the end of the corridor, one foot holding open the cupboard door as he beckoned to K-9 with wild sweeping movements of both arms; colourful cotton still clung to his suit and hair from his similar escapades. K-9 dodged the balls of wool being hurled at him from behind and trundled quickly into the cupboard through the gap provided by his Master’s legs. Inside, he continued forward, directly into the blue police box that had been hidden within.

“Good boy, K-9!” The Doctor exclaimed, landing a friendly pat to his tin metal head, before closing the door behind them.

The noisy buzz of angry textile workers faded from K-9’s senses as the TARDIS faded out, and into time and space.

A is for Apart, Sam, Supernatural

Sam rattled into Stanford University on a Monday afternoon on the free local shuttle; the red and white bus declared its use of biodiesel in bold lettering down the sides. He stepped off the bus, with his single duffle bag thrown over his shoulder and just stood there on the grass taking in the scenery – the cool midday air, the other students passing by, the smell of freshly mowed grass and the eclectic mixture of buildings that represented something that he wanted for once. He stood there in silence, a small grin playing over his lips, eyes wide open, breathing in the freedom of it all with a combination of exhilaration and sheer terror…

And he wished Dean was there with him.
