I'm a little choked up here. For some reason I'd expected a comedy ep and instead there's just so much meaning in here.
The whole ep had much more of a dark, season one feel to it. Which I loved. No angels or demons, just the boys fighting something and yet obviously with all the latest backstory... just yes! I've been waiting for a MotW, dark, brothers fighting shit, episode for a while. *loves*
Dean actually tells Sam he's like John. I mean fandom's been saying it, but this is the first time I think anyone has said it in canon. How much alike they are. *sniffle* And Dean doesn't necessarily think it's a good thing. I do love the way Dean is actually the one with the big picture atm. Sam has changed so much in some ways and not at all in others and sometimes I just wanna knock him upside the head. Or is it just me. Course, this is just one more sign of good writing I think.
He really was their brother, but they never got to meet him. Oh *sniff* That's so much sadder than if it was all just a set up. And John kept him safe with his mother. And the mix of emotions that brings up in Sam and Dean. The obvious jealousy and hurt, but also pride that John did the right thing...and...yeah! *sniff*
I mean I figured the kid had to be evil somehow, but that the monster had taken on his appearance... and the mother's too. I hadn't guessed that would happen. So sad!! When he winked and said "I know" I was all O_O. Sam!
I need to process this one. I'm really rather choked up by it, which TV doesn't normally do to me.
Only, Sam recovered awfully quickly from losing so much blood. I know it's TV, but they cut lengthways...isn't that really, really dangerous? Any doctors out there? I'm just curious. I actually wouldn't mind a fic filling in a few details there, but I am on a h/c kick lately, so I'll blame it on that. Nothing girly, just a bit of reality, because he didn't even look pale or anything at the end there. Link me if anyone finds a good one please. (Something non-Wincest of course. Bleh.)
Feel free to leave your thoughts and stuff in the comments. This is one ep I wouldn't mind dissecting out and discussing. Just getting a better handle on everything that just went down. It feels big, but my brain isn't processing how big... ya know?

I enjoyed it so so much, and was creeped out, and didn't expect it...
Yeah, while Sam was cut along the arms, there didn't actually seem like that much blood had leaked out by then. I was actually thinking 'let it all leak out and replace it. Then he no longer has demon blood!'

It was interesting that he couldn't throw them around, so either (a) he needs to use his hands to direct his powerz or (b) they only work on demons?? Or am I overthinking? :P

A lot of poeple are speculating about the only works on demons thing. I think that's probably reasonably logical.

* In the end, I loved that it was real -- they didn't backtrack, it wasn't a lie, wasn't a trick. John having 'another life' with another woman, having another son, seemed unreal in the beginning and I saw the pain/hurt in Dean when Adam mentioned birthdays and baseball games! Dean coming to terms with the truth of it in the end was great.
* Wow on the attack on Sam at the end. One of the gorier scenes I've seen recently! I also thought he seemed to be a little too 'ok' at the end of the ep...
* "Take it anyway you want" -- wow. Paired with the intro at the start of the ep (during which one of my friends squealed, "Sam's so young!") the comparisons between John and Sam were clearly drawn. Dean's bringing them to Sam's attention, noting that his obsession with his dad is unlike Sam's innate similarity was nice.
I can't wait for the next episode!!
