Ugh. Our computer is getting slower and slower again, but apart form that, AVG keeps telling us it has found something called Worm/Autoit.JKD.
Usually it says this when Dad plugs any of his USB sticks into the computer. However, if I scan the USB stick it says there is no infection. The computer has stopped letting him view files on his USB sticks too.
The only thing we can think is that we have Windows XP here and he has Vista at work. COuld that confuse the computer this much?
Does anyone know what Worm/Autoit.JKD is and whether it could cause this? When I run a full virus scan I don't seem to find it. I'm so confused. :(
Heeeelp!

Anyway, this one seems to be real. Your computer slowing down is one big clue but it's very frustrating when the anti-virus doesn't find it with a scan! What I'd suggest trying:
1. Update AVG manually to make sure you have the absolute most current definitions.
2. Go into AVG's tools - advanced settings - the Scans tab - scan whole computer. Uncheck the scan infectable files only box. This will tell AVG to scan every file on the computer, not just the ones that are most likely to be executable viruses. It'll make the scan take longer but will be more thorough.
3. Scan again. Hopefully it'll find and zap it this time. *fingers crossed*
4. If you have any anti-malware programs like Spybot or AdAware (both are good free programs), update, then run them as well.
Here's AVG's free forum which I've found has helpful links and info. I'm hoping the infection isn't coming from the other computer being transferred by the USB sticks. O_O But if they other computer isn't running slowly, then it's probably contained just to this one.
I'm not sure if there's any problem going from Vista to XP but I'm thinking that you really do have a beastie of some sort in there just from the computer running slowly and AVG popping that warning.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that you can nab it once and for all! Good luck! *hugs* ♥♥♥!!!
