I come by my fandom surprisingly honestly - I'm third generation. My mom grew up having the 'classic' stuff read aloud, and then passed on the tradition; my parents actually rented a color TV to watch the first BSG when it came out.

I've been raised on LOTR and Retief and The Lensman Series. So no surprise that my first fandom was Babylon 5 and that I watched Star Trek TNG from its premier (I was all of 4, and we had serious family in-fighting over it, because mom didn't think it was going to be any good).

Yeah, sci-fi-geekiness=love. Mom's coming to CC next summer b/c she's hoping Joe Flanigan will be there. I'm incredibly amused.
