I'd really like to put in an original piece of fiction for this University thing - due in March. There is a chance of getting published and that would be awesome. Only problem being that it's been ages since I actually wrote original fiction.

Could anyone please give me a nudge (something to think about) with a prompt/s - photo, words, possible character flaws... anything? I just need to find some little spark of inspiration.

I'm not even sure which genre to write in. I think most of my stories in the past would fit under children's stories or fantasy... there was the odd sci fi piece I think. I wish I had the stuff off my old computer hard drive, though most of it would probably make me cringe now. hmmm.

Anyone got a nice creative writing exercise for me?

Help. Please. *plaintive look*

Hmm, 'something to think about'... maybe a poem?

"What if you slept? And what if, in your sleep, you dreamed? And what if, in your dream, you went to heaven and plucked a strange and beautiful flower? And what if, when you awoke, you had the flower in your hand? Ah, what then?"

Samuel Coleridge

Or a quote?

"When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us."

Helen Keller

I don't know if I was able to give you an inspiration, but I certainly wish you lots of creativity and fun for your task! Original fiction isn't easy to write, but I'm sure whatever you come up with will be great! :)

Thanks hon! I love the first quote and the picture. Has me really thinking. I'd love to write something set here in Sydney somehow.

I'm happy you like that second quote. There are always new doors opening. I keep that in mind too.

*hugs*
