OK, so I recently switched to using Firefox rather than Explorer and I love the tab thing etc. Anyway, it was bugging me that when messenger alerts me to a new hotmail message, it will only open in Explorer when you click on it. So, I sent an email asking if there was a way around this.

Bah! So it looks like it isn't possible. Unless there's an add-on or something. Anyone know of one?

Get gmail.
And I am serious about that, I can send you an invitation to join. Think of it as the Firefox of emails. And their messenger alert thingie for new emails works with Firefox. Plus, they also have google talk, which is cool. I assume the using firefox is not an issue for actually IMing using MSN?

But I don't have google talk. Is that good? The thing is all my friends are on MSN and my LJ is linked to hotmail, but maybe I can change that last one. I'll check. I can get around it anyway by having hotmail as a hotlink and just logging in when a message pops up. I was just curious.

I blame my momentary insanity on writing the proposals. Google talk only allows you to talk to have gmail users at the moment, but it is quite good.
Is firefox set as your default browser? If it's not, it might fix the problem.

Yeah it is my default. I'm loving it. I wish someone had pointed it out sooner. I downloaded a little add-on that makes all the tags different colours too, so it's all pretty and another one that lets you control windows media player from the browser. *grin* I love gimmics. Anyone that wants to recommend other add-ons, go for it.

What do you man all the tags? Where do you get the add-ons you've got?
From:

You get the add-ons from the firefox site. https://addons.mozilla.org/?application=firefox
There are so many, that I couldn't decide which ones to try, but there's a little one that make the tabs different colours and I like it alot.

Let me quess this was developed in British Columbia I have not tried it from fear that it may blur my screen, slow down my internet connection and turn my hard drive into a floppy Drive . Let me guess the next version of windows will include stoned , sleep and hibernate settings . Hey how about a virtual viagra plugin!!!!

Great Idea, useless extension... everyone who hates this extension - have a real one and enjoy yourselves!!

Does it work?
by gehx, December 13, 2005 1:21am
2 stars for the idea :) However, when I click the Joint icon and select the type of joint it doesn't do anything. When I repeat the process it says 'You are still smoking the virtual joint! Please wait...'
*Giggles* Not so tempted anymore.

I've downloaded a weather one, which is kind of cool, plus a download manager. There's also one that allows you to email people a full webpage, which is kinda cool, although I haven't tried it yet. The one for music is cool, gives me extra windows tabbing space!
I also downloaded an ad blocker.

The weather one is really cool, I can see what the weather is at the moment, and the forecast for the next two days!
I just tried out the emailing a full webpage, so cool!!! It allows you to email password protected webpages, pages that might change or be different (such as searching google).

Ah!!! So cool!!! The tab mixer one allows you to close mozilla with multiple tabs open, reopen it and they all reload!!! An absolute saver for me, who usually has at least 6 tabs open.
Okay, I'm going to stop playing and start working on my proposals again.

OK so I'm getting the tab mixer one. That sounds like the most useful one.
From:

With the tab mixer, it might be useful to get one (which I think is on the third page of popular add-ons) which puts a close button on each tab. Because the close isn't the last one on the right click list anymore.
Did I mention that the ad-blockers are probably useful?

I got a card games one, just because I love card games. Haven't had a chance to play it though.

You might be able to check around some Firefox site (I have no idea where but Google probably will ^_^) and see if anyone's written some code.
