I'm not usually one to propagate such meme's, but the items I've seen on my flist are really cute and, just like
_wwsd_ was saying the other night, I want to get into the spirit of Christmas for once... so here goes. (meme gakked from
nightfreyja)
Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
I could only think of five, but here is my wishlist:
1. e-cards in my inbox - the more whacked out - with twinkling things, moving bits and bad music- the better... or featuring your home country and language.
2. Crack!fic or weird AU fic in SGA, SG1, Torchwood or Heroes fandoms.
(I have a strange desire to see someone write a fic where one of the SGA teams picks up a Mogwai, brings it back to Atlantis and promptly feeds it after midnight and gets it wet...and wouldn't a Torchwood/SGA crossover rock?)
3. For the comments of --THIS-- post to be filled with *hugs* and happiness. Feel free to send out A *hug*, *huggle* or any other form of happiness-producing, endearing gesture to me or anyone else who comments on this post. Spread the LJ love.
4. Lavvyan had a cool meme up last night where she said nice things about people and it made me feel all glowy. So...for everyone who reads this, whether they tell me about it or not, my wish is for you to go out and compliment someone in their LJ today. Make a nice comment on a fic or piece of art that you like (whether you have already or not) or just let them know why you read about them. Make someone's day happier as we move into the holidays.
5. I'd love to be linked to (or emailed) a picture of something that makes you happy and tell me what it means to you, or a picture that you think will make me happy. (Real life stuff preferably, though obviously not anything that would cause privacy concerns. eg. Pets in cute poses, sunrises, butterflies, kids, cars, your newly decorated twinkly Christmas tree...)
EDIT:
6. Torchwood or Heroes icons... especially Hiro or Jack
7. The military Intelligence zine everyone apparently has. (Where did you all get it and why am I oblivious?)
I think that's about it. Wow this is me being really sappy! *hides*
My email address should you need it, is starrylizard AT livejournal DOT com
Please feel free to link me to this meme on your own lj, since I may very well miss it and I'd love to try to fulfill a few wishes too. :)

As for your Wishlist, I can help out with number 5.
Last night I was looking at some pictures I recently took at the park. I think I got some pretty good shots, but this one is my favorite. I can't believe that I was lucky enough to get it. I just happened to look over as I was walking along and there was that butterfly sitting there on the flowers. It was totally down to chance and luck.
I'm also working on an SGA Crack!fic at the moment. If I ever finish it, I'll come back and post a link here for you. I don't know why it's giving me so much trouble. It's just a short, silly little fic that really shouldn't take as long to write as it is. Ah well. Hopefully I'll get it done.

Thankyou so much!
And yes, we friended over the lovely Paul con pics. *nods* It looked like so much fun!

Did we? Okay, that's cool then. I don't always keep up with LJ, so sometimes I don't even remember who I've friended or who's friended me. I'm also a bit scatterbrained, so that doesn't help either. ;-)
Thanks for the compliment on the picture. I love taking pictures and sharing my photos too. Glad you like it! :-)

For #5.
I took this on my way to school. I don't know where you live but if you don't get snow (or if you do and are tired of shoveling it) here's something pretty to hopefully brighten your day.

I have only seen real snow a few times when I've gone up to the mountains for ski trips or visited overseas relatives. Here in Australia we're currently moving into summer, though I'm not sure the weather is aware of that. We had the coldest Nov day on record for 100yrs yesterday. Brrr!
Thanks for dropping by and making me smile. :)

More snow pictures because I live in Colorado in the US and we have an overabudance. And cause you're super nice. Happy Holidays and stay warm, ;-)

Oh and I like your 2D bunny cartoon. (was just taking a peek at you lj) I can't draw much past stick figures and they tend to be out of proportion stick figures. :P
