Goats and Kidlets! Ah, the memories...

Aww! I just got all misty-eyed over a picture of goats.

See in 1992 my family lived in Holland for about 6 months and we discovered a children's zoo nearby to where we lived. Basically from then on, we saved all our vegetable scraps and went down almost every day to feed the goats.

My mother and I love animals. You see, we are those embarrassing people that stand around at zoos saying things like "aww look he's talking to us. Isn't that just adorable?" Yes we are those people. (My father always complains that we have seen every zoo in every city around the world that we've ever visited, because mum would happily give in and take us kids.) So anyway, almost every day while we were in Holland we did our own brand of composting by feeding the goats and all the little kids.

And, dad and mum are over there again now and they sent me this picture. Apparently they couldn't resist going back to see if it was still there.

I remember being so amazed by all the colours these ones came in. I think before that I'd only ever seen goats that had coats all the same colour. Plus we got to watch the mum's tummies get bigger and then feed all the little baby kids. Ah the memories! :)

That is so neat. I worked at a summer camp that had goats and was responsible for feeding them. It was fun.

Then we put one in Mike's car and drove him through the McDonalds drive through. That was fantastic. I wish I had pictures.

I LOVE zoos. I can't count the number of times I've been to San Diego Wild Animal Park when I lived in California, and the number of times I've been to Ueno Park Zoo in the brief time I was in Japan is rather embarrassing. I've been to the zoo all by myself. So yay! goats!

Yay! I've been to Taronga Zoo by myself. The animals there have the best view of Sydney Harbour and you get the fun of a ferry ride to boot. Great zoo if you ever decide to visit Australia. They even had a few white tigers last time I went. :)
