They had a literal shimmery gate that transmitted matter to another planet. Alien tech. This is explained matter-of-fact-ly and Wynn goes into little spasms of joy saying "it's a real Stargate: or something to that effect. Then they kept sort of referencing it, like they tell Wynn to figure out how to "dial up Earth" etc. Just awesome! :)
