Hey guys,

Are any of you into comics? I'm looking at buying some, but it's like jumping into a giant pool with no end in sight. As someone who has never read comics, it's hard to know where to start.

That said I've found a few "New 52" ones that look pretty kick-ass and I'm wondering if there is a good site for ordering them. One that ships to Australia. Otherwise I can get my local Impact Comics store to order me stuff. They were very enthusiastic today. I don't think they see many confused 30-somethings randomly asking questions about everything. :P

So welcome to the world of comics, my dear, and no, it's never to late to get hooked.
*huggles*

Moi started at the age of six [in the early 70ties] with Supie & Batman from DC, but sice I discoverd Marvel Comics at the age of ten, I was lost for DC for the next 30 years.
*nods**nods*

Well, I don't know if you watched the big Marvel blockbuster like Spiderman, X-Men, Thor, Avengers, Daredevil and/or The Fantastic Four, at a cinema or on tv - but if you did so, that would be a good start then, because you're already a little familiar with some of the characters of the Marvel Universe.
- MY all-time favourite from Marvel will always be The Punisher, because Frank Castle is 100% kick-ass and nothing but magnificent in his political incorrectness.
*smirk-smirk*

Best Punisher series evar IMO, is a Marvel Knight's imprint, a 12-issue miniseries, called "Welcome Back, Frank" by Garth Ennis [text], Steve Dillon [pencils] and Jimmy Palmiotti [inks] = The Punisher, Vol. 1, April 2000 - March 2001.
- Meanwhile available as paperback, too. And totally worth getting read, trust an old comic fan, my dear. ;)

FMI, here's the Wikipedia link.

* * *

"New 52", on the other hand is one of DC' latest boosts to get (new) readers attentions (back).
- MY fave DC comics are Wonder Woman* [perhaps you remember the old US tv series from the 70ties] and the Justice League with Supie, Batman, WW*, Green Lantern, The Flash and others - but before DC decided to turn them evol, last year.
*sighs*

* * *

Do you like "Game of Thrones" on tv, sweetheart? - Meanwhile, the whole s01 is available in a comic version, too [paperbacks 1-3, Marvel Comics].

And based on a prequel also written by G.R.R. Martin, there's a wonderful and absolutely enchanting comic version (paperbacks 1+2) of "The Hedge Knight". Though, it's already published a few years ago, the paperbacks still should be available. I got my own two copies from Marvel Comics last year, btw. ;)

And if you want to make your local comic store a little joy, go and ask the staff members for details and good advice. You already mentioned that they're very enthusiastic and I can picture that thoroughly, dear.^^
*giggles*
- So I'm sure they're helping you with all your questions and no worries; I'm collecting comics since 35 years now and still am getting confused from time to time because of the speed and turns and all the new releases in the comic universe these days... ;)
*looks sheepishly*

P.S. WOW. Just look at that comment... = guys from your local comic store aren't the only enthusiastics here, I might say...^^
*winks & waves*

P.P.S. Oopsie... I almost forgot to say good-bye for today with my favourite phrase of Ser Duncan, the Tall aka
The Hedge Knight,

" Oak and iron guard me well
Or I'm doomed and go to hell."

Thanks sweetie! Yeah, I am getting the impression people are passionate about their comics. It's adorable and I don't mean that in a condescending way. I was grinning ear to ear in the store and confused, but quite hyped by the time I left. :)

I picked up volume 1 of the tie in for The Arrow and a Superman Birthright, which the nice lady in the comic store recommended me. So I have somewhere to start.

But I'm interested in a few other things, so I was hoping there was an easy way to order online. Is there? Seems like you'd know.

I think I might like to read some of the Birds of Prey (http://www.comicvine.com/birds-of-prey-48-the-chaotic-code-part-two-crash-b/4000-112961/) comics (another one the lady recommended when I said kick-ass women interested me) and definitely The Flash. There's an origin one (http://www.comicvine.com/the-flash-0-before-the-new-52/4000-358828/) that's quite recent, but I'll probably have to order it in. I'd definitely like to read Wonder Woman. I love her! And I think I saw something about new Supergirl comics... Must look that up. :D
