Hmmm. I just wanted to throw in my 2cents on the whole dgeek site, even if I may be unpopular. I hardly ever visit forum sites. I don't like them much in general since I just think they are a waste of my time.

However, I've been hearing a lot of negative stuff about the dgeek forums, but have any of you read the boards? I just flipped through a lot of the manips and photos threads and in general fans are being very polite and just having fun. The only naked (?) shots come from the movie "Century Hotel" and the person/s who posted it has been told off rather soundly by people, but mostly just because they are afraid of children seeing images from an R-rated movie. I'm sure DH would expect screencaps from his movies. *shrugs* He also hasn't been specific about ratings or telling people it's a family site. Hopefully he'll be more specific later.

From the way people were going on, I honestly thought there must be manips of DH's head stuck on porn-star bodies. Or did I not look closely enough?

I have yet to catch up on the FAQ forum, but when I looked earlier most of the questions amused me and were fairly clever. If a few people ask things which are embarrassing, I would tend to give David credit for enough intelligence to realise that there are a few odd fans out there, but most are sweet.

From what I can see, anything that is posted and considered by other fans to be even slightly inappropriate is being liberally berated on the site, so I'd say that people should probably chill a little.

In conclusion, I may still play.

Apparently there were naked butt shots and mention of slash and explicit slash stories. And then there were apparently someone also asked a question about David's sexuality (????) ie what he thought about the slash or maybe if he liked guys or something like that.

I can't quote this and I am possibly/probably/most likely wrong. I don't have the time, nor am I keen on looking through a gazillion threads just to find out.

It depressed me a lot because everyone started sprouting stuff about doom and the end of Dgeek and it was all anyone could talk about!

But this morning --> see my latest post ---> I felt good again! Apparently he stepped in and rolled all the threads into one (again, got this second hand) and renamed them... and he actually wrote quite intelligent stuff!

Hehehe, funny man that Hewlett guy...!

I then went to check it out and funnily enough, I got the joke! So happy happy again. :D

He changed the name of the threads - rolled the photo ones in to new sections etc (according to slodwick).

When you see the - "Copyright be damned so long as you don't get you or me into trouble..." bit, that's his words. It used to say something else.

I think Slod's comment was that instead of picking sides and answering the gazillion questions, he simply chuck them in separate sections and said, "Go play ball". :D

Well as of today, I'm not at all offended by the content there and if some people want to make themselves look sill, well that's their perogative. I really don't think it reflects too badly on everyone else playing nice.

Hehe, I think a lot of people modified their posts after the littany of complains. That may be why you can't see the offending ones.

But you know, I suppose things like this are subjective.

I won't be surprised if DH and Jane are just amused by all the on-goings! :D

Sounds like something, the KAJIM/JAMI(see I made an acronym of our little group including Rinnie or not - yeah, dork here) group can discuss over a very long tea if we were fanatic about. The J bit would probably say, "Huh, what did I miss?"

Hehe! Yep, we could definitely discuss that for a while. None of us actually in possession of all the facts, yet arguing about it none-the-less. *giggles* Lots of good tea/coffee and some nummy food. Is J really that busy these days, that she doesn't even know about it?

Yes, our dear J is very very busy - I'm gonna book those con tickets on her behalf - and also coz I don't want to sit alone!

She said she's just been swamped at work and also she went to Qld for a team bonding work thing (yeah, sob sob) the other weekend so she didn't have to catch up with fandom etc since her return from Canada!

I just told her that if she's too busy to email, she could just msg me or call me! :)

Actually if we did get together, I'd love to talk about Joe Flanigan's golf swing... hehe, coz he just looked so sexy (and I thought golf was boring!)

Just got home! Had a class tonight so I "missed the kerfuffle" again!

Hehe, I always knew he was a funny and sarcastic man and I'm glad to see he has a great sense of humour - I can just picture him and Jane looking at each other and laughing at all of us! :)

Oh boy, I'm glad I didn't participate in anything. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. :D

I have been their and posted a few times, I don't have enough time to keep up with forums anymore. But I didn't see anything that made me cringe and want to dissasociate from!

*looks* Oh, ok. He's taken the manip and pic threads and made them into their own forum. So people can avoid them if they wish *nods*
