I haven't been reading as much lately and, when I have, I've been branching out of my usual zone a little, so it's been harder to find the good stuff. That said, I have two recs:
Lifelines by
jinxed_wood (PG, for language and Armageddon, Characters:Martha Jones, Derek Reese, crossover: Doctor Who/Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Gen)
Summary: Martha needs to spread the message... and, in order to do that, she needs to stay alive (set during the year-that-wasn't).
This fic just blew me away. I love both shows and both characters and I'm just amazed at the way the author keeps them both so in character, right down to their speech patterns and the description is wonderful. I could just see the whole fic in my mind's eye!! She's also managed to merge the two ideas wonderfully and give Martha even more reasons to have made the descision she did. It's just a fabulously plotted, wonderfully executed fic!! One of the best I've read this year!! :D
Amidst the Wars of Elements by
destina (PG, Supernatural)
I'm gonna warn right off the bat that this one is technically (PG) Sam/Dean, but I read it (I think off a rec) and to me the whole story is gen until about a paragraph from the end where there is a kiss (that I totally pretended never happened). It's worth ignoring it (if you're a non-wincest person like me), because the fic is actually very clever and it's entirely gen until the very strange kissing at the end.
Having said that (and hoping the author won't mind me saying that), the plot and description is genius. I love the idea. I love the way I was completely hooked in. It's a look at one way Sam might try to save Dean from hell and it's one that would never happen in the show, so I enjoyed it all the more. That's what fanfiction is all about.
