I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini. The apps that I use the most are - Evernote - for making to do lists - Flipboard - collects news stories from other sites into different topics, e.g. travel, food, photography - News (The Guardian, in my case) - Facebook - GMail - Youtube - Shazam - someone mentioned it above - Chrome - for LJ/DW; I use Explorer for anything else - LinkedIn - Flixter - Google goggles - haven't actually tried this, but supposedly you can take a photo of something you like in a shop and search the web for it.
The phone also has various widgets, like Googlesearch, SVoice...other S-things that I haven't tried out yet. I think S-Suggest tells you restaurants etc that are located nearby to you (if your location is switched on).
I keep the settings button on the homepage for quick access to volume changes etc - although the swipe-down screen is very useful for switching quickly to silent or turning off wi-fi.
