1)
festivids IS LIVE!! \o/
I don't know where to start viewing the awesome! I probably should be more methodical, but I'm starting with my fave fandoms first. :)
2) Mum and I decided to check out a few townhouses yesterday, just to start judging the market. And we fell in love with one and I'm actually thinking about buying it. Gonna talk to the bank tomorrow if I can get an appointment. I'm a bit trepidacious, seeing as we were going to just judge the market, so yeah. It may not happen. Having a mortgage sounds waaaay grown up to me, although I do plan to get a place sometime this year.
3) Ooh I was going to talk about Hamlet which I saw at the Dendy via the NT Live cinema thing. It was VERY good! I have honestly never studied Hamlet, read Hamlet or seen it performed and I was just watching it as a true clueless audience member. I hadn't realised so many famous quotes were in there and DUDE! they are in a totally different context than I imagined. I particularly loved the "Alas poor Yoric, I knew him well" speech. It's about a nice jester who played with him as a child. Wow. And Rory Kinnear gave that particular monologue in such a wonderful subtle voice, so sad. I was choked up byt he end of that one. And, okay, I do not have slash goggles; I do not work that way. But Horatio was totally in to Hamlet. Poor guy! I mean he wants to drink the poison rather than live without him. Aww!
4) Please check out
fandom_flood_ap and make a bid if you are able. Great stuff still up for grabs for as low as $AU5. You know I had to mention it.

You'll be fine, mate. Just take your time and make sure you get the bank personage to explain EVERYTHING. And don't let them talk you into something you don't need, which, unfortunately, means digging out the paperwork and looking into exactly what you do need, for example, income protection insurance. Some banks offer it as part of a mortgage package but if your work insurance already has it, it's something else you'd be paying for that you potentially don't need.
READ EVERYTHING. You are doing a PhD: buying a house is peanuts compared to that. Promise.
Good luck! *twirls you*
