I finally got around to watching Affinity today. I was mostly bored by it. The twist at the end barely surprised me, but even without that, the main romantic thread just wasn't romantic.
I assume I was missing a lot. I'm sure the book had a lot more smouldering passion to draw the reader in. But somehow (and it's odd for the BBC), I couldn't buy it at any point. I couldn't for the life of me figure out where the attraction was coming into it.
Hmmm. I think the BBC just did Fingersmith and Tipping the Velvet better. Perhaps they lent themselves to the screen better.
