That's my excuse for everything at the moment and I'm sticking to it. I haven't been posting, because I've been too busy reading Sherlock fanfic, watching Sherlock vids and reading Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's original Sherlock stories - which are rapidly becoming my favourite books of all time.

Every time I come across bits in the original stories that are in Sherlock (BBC) or the recent movie I glee like bouncing cheerleader (I tend to read late at night and I have scared the poor cat awake on more than one occasion).

The five orange pips! The knife in the mantlepiece! The pretend fainting spell! The master of disguises so fabulous even Watson can't pick them! Mycroft! It's all there!

Sir Conan Doyle, I know I am many years to late to ever tell you personally, but you rock!

I've also been looking into all the [livejournal.com profile] festivids letters and deciding on an innocent victim to foist a gift upon. I'm absolutely determined to vid something and gift it to someone I don't know (even if I was too chicken to sign up properly this year).

Oh and the weather is bea-u-ti-ful of late. The sun is shining, the flowers are blooming and our dams have tipped 80% full (heading toward 90% at a fast pace) and the long dry has been declared officially at an end! Life is good people! Life is good.

Vid rec post to follow sometime soon as I have discovered some rippers of vids in various fandoms that will blow your brains out with their awesome. Just need some time to sort them all.

So that is what's going on. Hope your lives are going along swimingly too.

Oh dear, did I not tell you this years and years (or at least months and months) ago? I've been a fan of ACD since I was a kid.

Anyway, YES.

And I'm so glad life is good. Could you send some sun down this way? I'm very excited about the end of the drought but enough already with the rain and cold in October.

Noooo, it was a well kept secret. Honest. *squinty eyes you* Trufax. Oh, but I have little sticky notes all over my copy so far and I haven't got to the novels yet. :)

Actually there is a storm a-brewing here at the moment, but maybe that means your part of the country will get some sun...? Never know. It's been sunny all week, so it'd be about time for it to rain all weekend. lol It just doesn't bother me at all today.

Bother! As always, I have a huge pile of deep-serious-theology I should be reading and it looks like I'm going to be curling up with Sherlock tonight instead.

Have you seen the movie Young Sherlock Holmes (directed by Barry Levinson in 1985)?

I used to watch it with my dad (and had the hardest time finding the DVD when I was in France last year).

Oh you know, I have that on my UK Amazon shopping list atm. It's really cheap. :D

Oh I did find it in the end, it was a US import and it's in English or French (both language on the case). It was like 10 Euros I think, which is about NZ$20. So not that bad. :)

I tend to watch it in French, cos that's how I know it. Just like I know The Princess Bride and the original Star Wars Trilogy (I watch it in English and the lines come to me in French in my head...) and some other movies like Hudson Hawk...

Well, growing up in France, English is mandatory at school from age 11... Then 2 years later you have to choose another language to learn on top of that.
So in the 7 years (intermediate/high school) I did English (7 years) then German (5 years and that's long gone...) then 3 years of Italian in high school and I kinda speak Spanish too cos we used to go there on holiday all the time and I kinda picked it up... And I did 2 years of Czech at university.
