Please note that the price of Demons - Series 1 [DVD] [2008] has decreased from £1.95 to £1.94 since you placed it in your Shopping Basket.

Woot, while shopping around for something else, I saved 1p. Ha!

Does UK Amazon do this every year? It's currently cheaper for me to buy a bunch of stuff on UK Amazon, even with the overseas shipping and dodgy exchange rate, than to buy locally. O_O I almost never buy on UK Amazon, cos it's usually expensive! They're just throwing shit out. I swear.

Mind you, I wouldn't pay more than that for Demons (even if I did love it as a guilty pleasure), but BBC Period dramas are rolling out the door. e.g. North & South!! \o/ I rest my case.

Dude, I've got so much crap off Amazon UK last year it wasn't funny. Season 2 of DW for about £17, which is around $30AUS. They were on sale at JB for about $50 or so! And QI series 1 was like £5 or something, which I can't even find over here.

Not to mention Lost in Austen, which was £10 and selling at around $30 over here.

So yeah, if you know what you're looking for, Amazon and Amazon UK can be cheaper than stuff on sale here!

Oh I have seen good prices on the American Amazon and I buy off all the Amazon stores fairly regularly, but UK Amazon is almost always pricey. From this last month, I think they must have sale periods where they just throw stuff at you and clear out their warehouses. It's like, waaaaay too tempting right now. :P

It does make me all flaily though.

Yeah, you need to wait for their sale, cos when they say sale, they mean SALE! I'm waiting for season 4 of DW and s1 & 2 of Merlin to go on sale.... when I have the money, and for the AUD to go up a bit since it sorta fell a bit in the last couple of months. Ah well...

Yeah, the value of dollar makes a big difference. Pity it's dropping atm.

I'm gonna totally wait for sales now I've seen what they are. *G*

FREEEELLL!!!! DW s4 (£17.73) and Merlin s1 (£13.43) ARE ON SALE!!! £33.16 for BOTH BOX SETS!!! So is Chuck s1 for £10.97!!

But... but... NO MONEY!!! *cries*

Is Merlin that much cheaper than here? I've seen it for $30. I mean once you take in the exchange rate and shipping costs? DW, though. That's good. Pity I have it already... Chuck too.

Merlin is pretty cheap in Australia, but what they're selling over here is not the same as what they're selling in the UK. We got no extras on Season 1 except that little behind-the-scenes thing they aired on Channel 10. The UK got a heap of those videos, plus commentary tracks and the cast video diaries.

Plus their packaging is much prettier :)

I'm so wary of buying DVDs now because so often we get shafted when it comes to extras.

Ah true. Didn't think of that. SPN was in a similar way. *nods* Carry on and have thee a shopping spree then. *G*

We had the same issue with SGA when it was first released, and they were tricky about it. They didn't list anything on the dvd case so it wasn't until after you bought the DVDs that you discovered they'd only included a few of the commentary tracks.

Surprisingly, Madmen is one of the worse offenders for this kind of thing. You'd think being a niche company they'd be good at including shit, but most of the stuff they sell they take out the extras that the rest of the world get.

Yeah, cos they don't want to pay for the licensing for such a small island. lol

I paid about $79 for s3 of DW, got it a couple of days after it came out. s1 I got a few years later at about $50. s2 was the cheapest, and I have a "not for commercial release" version of s4 that I think was released by the production crew with all the eps and full-length versions of all the podcast commentaries, which I got as a gift, but it didn't have all the other extra stuff, so waiting to get s4 when I have the cash... *sigh*

Merlin is about the same price, but the Australian version don't have that much extras, so the UK version is definitely more worth it.

Nope. But we have a piece of legislation that says all DVD players shall be unlocked to be region-free or come with a code so that it may be unlocked Amen! *G* I love that piece of legislation. I buy DVDs from Amazon UK, Amazon USA and Amazon Canada. :D

Technically, if you buy stuff here and don't bother to unlock your DVD player, we're region 4.

Most people are. I do wish it extended to computer DVD players and burners, but I'm thankful for what e have anyway. :D
