Vid intros.

Some of them are up to 30 seconds, but that's a really huge extra download when the vid itself is only a couple of minutes long. I saw a 30 second vid with a 40 second intro the other day. WTF?

And they confuse me. There's this huge multifandom intro and I figure I've hit the wrong link - after all wasn't it meant to be a Supernatural vid? Why are Buffy and the Mighty Hulk in there?

Sure pop up a quick 2 second flash of your symbol or do something like Joss Whedon's "I made this", but these long intros (even 10 seconds is too long people) well they are annoying. It's wasted download space. Especially if you like a person's vids and every vid you download has the same damn intro. Just no. I've stopped downloading some people's vids because it just bugs me so. It's an annoying trend.

At least put the credits over it (song title etc.) and place it at the end of the vid. Then it would feel useful.

Yes, they can be done tastefully (I've seen a few I like even), but most of them (the ones I have seen anyway) are just way too long and very large in terms of extra mb download. *hands*

Ah, see though, the vid you linked me to is fine...it doesn't have an intro like I'm talking about.

The intros I eman are not an intro to the vid specifically, they are an intro to the vidder and all their work. Think the title sequence on a TV show. In general, they consist of a bit of raucous music, some clips from all the fandoms they play in and a fancy title saying something like "Starrylizard production". Then the vid starts. These are the ones that kinda...irk me. lol

I can pm you an example link if you like, but I won't point fingers in my thread or I'm bound to hurt feelings... which I probably am anyway, but this is really disturbing my vid watching so I'll chance it.

Yeah, I know what you mean. They're the ones I generally see in fanfilms. I haven't been downloading that many vids or watching that many vids lately, so I have no idea they're that common now in your everyday vids.

Personally, I just can't be arse coming up with an intro like that. It takes a lot of TIME and just too much effort. Plus, it just adds to the rendering time. I mean, I get frustrated enough rendering a 3+ min vid, to add another 10-30 sec to it would take HOURS more to render the damn thing! So yeah, from a vidder's POV, that doesn't work for me either.

lol! I hear you. Vegas and rendering is sloooow on my less tha great PC.

From the pov of someone who also regularly downloads and keeps vids, it is taking up extra hard drive space that I'd rather it didn't. It's just all around annoying.

I have a reasonable spec iMac, 4G Ram and 2.66Hz Core 2 Duo processor, even that takes ages! I don't even want to contemplate using my old computer, will probably take DAYS! LOL!

So yeah, vidder and audience POVs they all don't make sense to have intro, so... *shrug*

People are weird?
