Memory
Sam’s first memory isn’t of Dean or his father – although he figures they were probably there. His first memory doesn’t come with sound at all, although he assumes it was there too, just superfluous and so forgotten over time.
His first memory is of sunshine, warm on his skin as it pours through a car window. There’s a solid comforting rumble vibration of an engine somewhere beneath the sheepskin lining of his car seat and his eyes are slowly drifting open and shut, passing trees flashing shadow and light across his vision with hypnotic regularity.
He’s warm and safe.

You know why? The way Sam caresses the Impala when he left Dean. It's his home and he left it.... :(
