*eyeroll* You know I really hoped they wouldn't take that track. It started out as such a good series, but well, I'm pretty unimpressed with the wishy-washy ending.
I also didnt like the ending much. I thought there would be more significance for Kara and more on her dad since they brought him into it a few episodes beforehand. They didnt explain his presence at all. I was disappointed that Kara just disappeared for seemingly no reason?? I dont know... I havent listened to the commentary for that episode, maybe it would explain a lot more...
Yes, I'd be interested in any commentary. About four episodes before the end, I'd convinced myself the only way out of this whole plot was if Kara = God. Even that made more sense than the ending, which I honestly don't understand. They really didn't explain the whole Kara plot. And so the whole point of Hara (sp?) was just to write down the notes to the song they were already singing? I still don't get how she was the saviour. And, well they could have done the whole, evolving into us (here and now) on the previous Earth they found. It just... I don't get it. *hands* I feel like I shouldn't need commentary to make sense of their ending.
It seems to me that they got stuck in a corner and just went... fate. god. done. Pfft.
Also, the flashbacks were very sudden and out of place and, more often than not, served no purpose. Same with the randomly disappearing people, Kara's Dad and Kara included. Also, introducing that there was a "Daniel" model seemed to have no point. And some of the cylons knew who the final five were all along??
I probably shouldn't be so annoyed by it, but it truly was an awesome series and I feel gipped that they couldn't end it all more sensibly. I thought they'd planned it all out, but maybe I was wrong in that assumption. [/rant]
I was kinda hoping someone would comment with way more comprehension of what the ending meant and I'd go... "ah I see." But I guess not. *le sigh* If you do happen to have commentary for the ep I'd be interested in having a listen.
Yeah I agree with a lot of things you mentioned. I thought Daniel, being Kara's father, they would bring more of that into the ending with Kara being the harbinger of death/or knowing what was to come and him being the 13th cylon... I think that RDM didnt have the whole 4 seasons planned out but they did planned out the last season but I'm not sure to what extent. I did hear in one interview that RDM wanted to make the final episode more about the characters in the show (and not the plot) and to finish their storylines off but I dont think he really did it well... that's why I havent listened to the commentary, I was quite disappointed after seeing the last episode. And yeah I think it has been the best TV series in terms of storylines and characters that I've seen.
So was Kara the daughter of the 13th cylon. Is that why they brought him into it? Makes sense, cos Ellen said he was an artist and her father was a musician. Hmm. I didn't pick up on that. Still, they didn't do much with that really.
I still don't get how she resurrected though. Or was Kara meant to be one of the "angels" and therefore she disappeared when she wasn't needed anymore? The whole thing confused me a lot. But I kinda feel like even if someone points out all the connections I'd still be disappointed by the whole... God thing. It just felt like a cop out in the end.
I could see how they tried to develop the characters a bit more at the end there, but I wasn't sure why. It's the end of the series, why are you developing a character there? I agree, if that was his plan, he didn't really succeed. Pity though.
Yeah I read on TWOP that Kara was the daughter of the 13th cylon prior to the episode and that made me so excited about the ending of the series, I thought there was so much potential there to explain how she knew about the the 13th colony, her destiny, leading the humans to Earth. And that she would find out more about her dad at the end, that somehow she had some link with him May be that was implied and so didnt need explaining??
And yeah her dead body! Was it that human-Kara died and the new-Kara that came back was an angel/not human in order for them to find the new planet? I dont understand then why the purpose of the new-Kara (with the help of Hera) was to find the new planet, unless she found the new planet in order for the whole cycle to begin again, or was the purpose of Kara to break the cycle? But what was with the whole myth that Kara was the harbinger of death? Did she lead them all the death in the previous cycles, but not in this one?
Hmm.. might have to listen to that commentary after all :P

I think I need someone to break down the mythology for me and just spell it out, because I obviously didn't get it all.
And when Baltar proclaimed "we can breed with them" I think I lost it for about five minutes. That's so wrong. :P
I think I may go looking for that commentary too.
