I just watched it with my SPN posse here in Japan :) I've been staying far away from spoilers and fandom, so when I saw the title "Jump the Shark" I totally expected a comedy episode. But it was the opposite, and imo it was such a good ep!
* In the end, I loved that it was real -- they didn't backtrack, it wasn't a lie, wasn't a trick. John having 'another life' with another woman, having another son, seemed unreal in the beginning and I saw the pain/hurt in Dean when Adam mentioned birthdays and baseball games! Dean coming to terms with the truth of it in the end was great.
* Wow on the attack on Sam at the end. One of the gorier scenes I've seen recently! I also thought he seemed to be a little too 'ok' at the end of the ep...
* "Take it anyway you want" -- wow. Paired with the intro at the start of the ep (during which one of my friends squealed, "Sam's so young!") the comparisons between John and Sam were clearly drawn. Dean's bringing them to Sam's attention, noting that his obsession with his dad is unlike Sam's innate similarity was nice.
