So, it's been the month of August-fest or whatever we're calling this little SPN giving season and [livejournal.com profile] sgflutegirl asked if someone would vid the episode "What Is and What Should Never Be" to Real World by Queensryche, so I gave it a go. I hope this is close to the sort of thing you were after, girl. :)

Very nicely done, sweetie!!! I really liked this.

(Yes, I'm not very constructive ;-P)

That was quick! I'm still posting it places. :)
Thank you! The fact that you likes it is constructive in itself. :)

I really liked this video. I think you it really had the pulse of the story and just came so nicely together. The end sequence was heartbreaking (as was the episode) and I think you did an awesome job of choosing the music and making it fit to the clips. All around a very good video. I liked it very much (and have the sudden urge to go watch 2.20 lol)

Thank you so much. Lately I've been doing faster vids and using flashy effects and I enjoyed this one being slower and so I could tell the story with the clip choice instead. So glad you liked it. Thanks for commenting. :D

I am blown away! You picked my fave Dean ep and one of my all-time favorite bands. This was amazing and my mouth is still hanging open. I need to stop making vids because this makes me look bad. OMGuh! Did I say I loved it? No, I didn't say it but now I did.

Thanks so much! The music is totally down to sgflutegirl for requesting it because I'd never heard of Queensryche. I guess I fail at being a child of the 80's, but I went out and bought a Best-of albumn last week. They're great! :)

I'm so glad you enjoyed it and don't give up on vid-making...for it is fun! Though I'm personally tickled-pink to have got such a nice response! :D

Cheers

Oh sweetie, some of the best rock out there was born in the 80's. I've seen Queensryche in concert more times than I can count. (Definitely showing my age here, huh?) I love some of the new things out but I will almost always fall back on my faves from my teens. (Really let the cat out of the bag with that one)

Okay, I am beyond enamored and need to learn how to make something like this. At least throw me a bone and tell me what program you use. I've got the ultimate pain in the ass WMM and just recently acquired Abobe Premiere Pro but have no idea how to use it yet.

Hurts my head just looking at it. Funny that Photoshop does that too. I see a pattern...

Oh, don't get me wrong. I love me some 80's music. It's my childhood in a flashback, hair pulled to one side and Bon Jovi blaring. *big grin* Just lately with my new SPN obsession, I've had some awesome 80's stuff pointed out to me that I never knew about. I blame my sister's bad music tastes when we were growing up, since she was the teenager then... Hammer time! :P

Anyway, I use Sony Vegas at the moment. It's a little complicated to begin with, but once you get used to it, it can do a lot of nice stuff. Over at the SVS forums, there are quite a few of us using the program, so there's some help and support there if you decide to give it a go. There's a sort of Beginner's Guide here (http://supernaturalvideostation.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=544) and there's a pretty active help thread (http://supernaturalvideostation.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=347) as well if you want to see people struggling to learn the thing (the whole first several pages are me asking things like "How do I cut a clip?" :P). Youtube has loads of tuts that people have uploaded too. Premiere Pro is supposed to be very good as well (I've seen great stuff made with it), though I've yet to try it myself. I think all editing programs are rather clunky and frustrating to to start with, but you just have to import some clips and play "what does this button do? *clicky*" while drinking some good wine.

A lot of my earlier vids are made with WMM and you can do a fair bit more with the program if you nab some of the add-ons. Hay1ock and Lsketch are two vidders who do wonders with the program.

Anyway, I'll stop rambling now.
Cheers

Wow! I love it! It turned out wonderfully! Thank you so much! :-)

Cool, I have my name in a vid! :-D

Yay! So glad you like it and thanks for the song, because I love it! :)
Happy August-fest! :D

Awesome! Glad you love the song. My husband is a huge Queensryche fan, and he had put a lot of his MP3's on my computer when he first set it up for me. I happened upon the song one day, and have loved it ever since. I've also found quite a few other Queensryche songs that I like as well.

Oh yeah! I linked to the vid on my journal. :-)

Wow. First of all, Queensryche! You had me at the song. ;)
The vid itself was gorgeous storytelling and the song was perfect for that ep. The orchestral sequence starting at 2:55 blew my mind. Your fast editing mixed with that part of the song was really dramatic and quite effective. Supremely awesome job. This is going in my keeper folder. :)

Awesome! I made your keeper folder. :)
I'm glad that last section worked for you. It took me so much longer to do than the rest of the vid and I was hoping it didn't end up looking out of place. Thanks so much!

Cheers

R39 awards are up @ Sunnydale Stories; R40 is open. Round 40 will be the last Round before a month-long hiatus. I’ve been doing these rounds one after another for nearly 40 weeks now. I need a break.
