Just as I kind of feel that "the powers that be" are messing quite a lot with one of my favourite shows, Stargate Atlantis - and I am still with holding judgement here and waiting to see what S4 brings - they have released a statement saying they are making a third Stargate series: STARGATE UNIVERSE

Odd title.

Anyway, I was just thinking this is all very startrek-like... all these series spin-offs. I'm not really sure what to think. Maybe it'll work, maybe it won't, but I sort of thought they'd leave SGA to try to hack it on its own first. I'm rather surprised at this news.

Hmm. Thanks for the SGA (or SGU?) news. I don't mind them pitching these ideas, but am concerned that (1) it'll detract time/focus/budget from SGA, which had already suffered somewhat since S1, and (2) the current staff doesn't quite have the right mix to bring in fresh ideas and take risks. SGA had - and still does - lots of potential, but despite me liking S3 a heck more than S2, I still feel a little let down from the S1 promise.

We'll see, I guess. It'll take a while anyways for them to come up with a plot, pilot and the works for network approval....

Yeah, I'm sure it'll be a while before we see it hit our screens, if at all, but it did surprise me that they'd be making a new series. Funny, when SG1 (to me anyway) was a new series in a way. New enemy, half a new team. And they didn't renew it. And yet there must be interest in a new series. *eyebrow* Shall be interested to see what pans out and whether they have a whole new cast or borrow from the SGA and SG1 casts.

Indeed. Good point! They left a lot of loose threads towards the end. I certainly didn't feel the resolution from the last SG1 ep that I did with Moebius, let alone Lost City.
