There's now a [livejournal.com profile] help_midwest community open for bids.

This community was started to help the Midwestern United States primarily Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas that have seen a number of deadly storms. On Sunday, May 21st a tornado hit the city of Joplin, MO causing untold devastation and the storms have not stopped. Today there were touchdowns in the residential areas of Overland Park, KS and Claycomo, MO also an EF2 tornado struck the city of Sedalia, MO. - [livejournal.com profile] help_midwest introductory post.

Bids are open until June 30 2011.

There's also a more established community that has just finished its forst round of bids called [livejournal.com profile] helpthesouth.

This auction was created for those affected by the waves of tornadoes that blew through the southeastern United States on April 27, 2011. The tornadoes passed through at least six states with over 300 reported dead. - From the comm. sidebar. They appear to be expanding from there and are supporting other parts of the country that are in trouble with tornadoes and floods.

There will be a round 2, but not sure when.

I always think these kinds of communities are a really nice idea. :)
