I went to see Pan's Labyrinth today with [livejournal.com profile] yokiem.

Wow, really interesting movie. It weaves the little girl's fantasy world so neatly with the real world that it's practically seamless. The puppetry or CGI (not too sure if it was one or the other or both) was delightful and a little creepy.

The only drawback was the somewhat shocking graphic violence in parts. It was very realistic and I won't fault them for it, though I spent several scenes peering through my fingers occasionally to see if it was over yet. Not for the very squeamish in that sense.

I have a question for the LJ-savvy:
Everyone seems to have this funky thing on their layout, where it shows their tags down a sidebar in one format or another. How are you all doing this? I really want to know.

For the tag thing. it took me ages to find it, too ;)
It's where you can change your journal style (don't know how it's called in English)
Custom Options - Sidebar - ...box in the sidebar - there you can choose "Tags"
To choose the layout there's "Display of tags in the sidebar" (it's either cloud or list)
underneath that one it states "Title of the tags sidebar box"
hope that helps

Just saw Pan's Labyrinth advertised in the paper two days ago. Looked interesting.

My tag list just magically appeared one day. I think it's possibly tied up with the layout you have??

MmmKay thanks. I shall have a peruse of my lj layout section.

It was really interesting and well done. I love foreign movies. Listening to the lilt and flow of another language and this one is really different. Like a scary adult's fairy tale mixed with a dark post war reality.

Well you know, I am considering a career change. That could be an option. *grins*

Hehee :P Imagine, getting paid heaps for being a complete and utter snob! How fun! ^_^

Yes indeed. What fun! You could secretly be mocking them all and they'd never know. ;D

Awwww. I'm sooo jealous. I've been wanting to see Pan's Labryinth for a while now but they arn't showing the movie near me. :( I'm glad that you got to see it though.

I have no idea how to do the cool tag thingy on the side. I hope you figure it out. ;D

That's a bummer.

Yeah, apparently it's in the layout section, but I have to choose a different layout style to do it. Bleh! Can't be bothered to change my whole layout atm.

I've a question for you now: how did you manage to capture the YouTube clips you used in the Out Of Bounds vids? (Oh, and I have more John-in-civvies footage if you're interested.)

I used a site called http://keepvid.com/
You just put in the url and it gives you a dl link.

This will get you an FLV file, which I couldn't seem to play, but if you go to www.zamzar.com you can upload the FLV file and it changes it into a fileformat of your choice. I chose AVI.

This is kind of frustrating with all the uploading and dling. [livejournal.com profile] thepouncer gave me some other alternative programs for file conversion here (http://starrylizard.livejournal.com/202583.html), but I haven't tried any of those programs yet.

What John footage have you got? I still need to peruse my collection and get some bits where he looks a little less "long in the tooth" *grins*
