Is the Windows 10 FREE upgrade thing my computer keeps displaying real? What's the catch?

According to the last reports I heard, the catch is that Windows 10 is a piece of flaming crap. Just what I've heard.

It's Stasi via user license, once on your computer it's like a virus - hard to get it gone again -, and it semss, by the rumors one can hear, it's technically still half-baked just like every other new operation system Microsoft put on the market in their hinstory. Including they still test which things they can all make gone from the previous way that their systems worked like (e. g. thoughts about getting the control panel gone and let it be accessible through an app).

Eep. So basically it's a Microsoft product. Thanks!  I think I'll just continue to ignore that popup.

Yes, it is free and it is from Microsoft and will be available for a year starting from it's launch date, you have plenty of time left to make up your mind if you want to install it.

I haven't, I won't until they sort out some of the problems, and maybe never, I'm happy so far with 7 and 10 being free means there may be unexpected issues once they've got you caught in their system, I have heard a few good reports but many bad ones, especially the privacy issues and how much of your personal day to day life is being harvested by Microsoft with the intention of doing who knows shit with it. Blocking programmes and anything it considers 'illegal' is another thing I'm hearing about.

But don't worry, it may look like someone has hacked your computer, but it's only Microsoft, I'm not sure what's more worrying though, I can get rid of viruses, I can't get rid of the UPGRADE TO 10 nonsense.

Urgh! I hate how so many online systems are taking away my privacy these days.  My phone keeps body uploading photos places. I think I'll give it a miss for the moment.  Glad it's not a virus,  but boo microsoft. Thanks!

I have that ad too, and I don't trust it either... I see no need to upgrade, so I won't until I do. :-)

Sounds like it's  legit, but not worth the upgrade.  Lots of issues if other comments are correct and they usually are.

I upgraded my laptop. It's not a scam or anything. It's just a bit...rubbish in places.
