I've been meaning to point this one out for a few weeks now, but I wanted to put the appropriate warnings on it should anyone be sensitive to the themes in it and therefore not want to read it. So I'll put what I hope are very upfront warnings here, since I don't think they are on the fic page.
WARNINGS: Dark themes, NC17 for themes as well as explicit (het) sex (Sheppard/OC mainly and some Sheppard/Teyla), there's also some violence and death (non-canon characters).

This is the most amazing, hard-hitting fic ever. The author has imagined a future world where John and Teyla have left Atlantis and are struggling to survive and make it on their own. (I'll point out here that it is not a Sheppard/Teyla shippy fic.) This story is dark, really dark. The tax John is forced to pay for their safety and the reasons for their separation from Atlantis (and much more) are all revealed slowly and carefully, so that I found myself in shock for most of this story. It truly is a sad and dark and frightening universe she has created, but it's simply realised so well that I can't be mad at her for twisting my emotions so badly.
The beginning is a little hard to get in to, but read on and be amazed. I can't really say why I found this fic so good without giving away all the amazing twists and turns the story reveals as it steam rolls over your emotions, but I can say "read it now for it is worth it."

Came looking for this fic and saw that your weather girl is in a cute swishy high split dress!!!!

Um, I hope you like the fic. It is very heavy, but I like dark sci fi. It reminded me a lot of some of the published authors I've read - but without the sex. :P
Now I feel nervous for reccing it to you, but you can always decide you hate it....
