*hums the Indianna Jones theme under her breath*

Just got my mini-poster in for the student conference I'm supposed to attend in November. You just have to laugh at the guidelines for the darn things. It's like someone tried to make everything simple and in the process made it really complicated.

They also ended up laying out the rules like a dictator-wannabe was in charge. The language used just cracks me up, but then they felt the need to specify the font type and size and justification etc. etc. to the smallest details, to the point of telling us that you should not put a fullstop at the end of your title. *giggles* Like anyone cares?

Check out the language used on their weirdly set out webpage:

Submissions that don't comply with the naming convention will not be accepted.
(Yes, it was in bold.) What like it's a convention that everyone uses to assign specific letters to weird categories in a table that took me 10 minutes to locate with Yokiem's help on your ridiculous site? Okay!

...it is essential that it comply with these naming conventions
Sir, yes sir! Comply? O_o

Mini-posters should be printed on a laser or high quality ink-jet printer in black & white. To avoid creasing of the hard copies the envelope should be reinforced with cardboard and marked "Do not fold or bend".
hehe. They got a sigma catalogue with mine. Like I have cardboard lying around. Plus, why do we have to email it and post three copies. Surely you need one or the other...?

Anyway, this thing just ate my day. O_O *kicks it*

*dies*

I'd feel bad about my general amusement but can't help but laugh over the absurd things people do given the smallest amounts of power.

Yeah, it's so true.
I always remember the time I wanted to photocopy something at the war memorial library and only the librarians were allowed to photocopy things for you... and oh the drama. *shakes head*

Librarians are the worse when it comes to power trips. Hand to god, I have no idea why but they're little neo-nazis. It's worse when you have a fine then they become Napoleon.

Hehe, one of my friends almost didn't get to graduate because she had a 50c fine at the uni library that she only found out about on the day. I swear to god, she had to run around that morning to pay them, or they withheld her degree.
