I made some McKay Shappard wallpapers and some icons to match. They're all variations on a theme and they're my first go at making wallpaper, so any suggestions or comments welcome.

For those better at photoshop than me, is there anyone able to tell me how to make a simple border around an image? For instance, if I want a black border around my icons, is there a simple way to do that? I'm sure there must be and I think I used to know where it was, but I've forgotten.

Credit for the textures goes to [livejournal.com profile] newkidfan and you can pick them up at her website colordrop or at her icon journal [livejournal.com profile] blimey_icons.

Very pretty! I don't know why I love those glasses so much, because they're so bad... but yet I love them. I'm snagging the fourth wallpaper - I like it a lot!

As for the photoshop question, the easiest way to add a border is using a brush - I have some simple border brushes that I'll email you. (Just make a new layer and apply it in whatever colour you want). Alternatively, you can make a selection on your icon where you'd like the border, then press "shift, ctrl, I". That will select the area between your selection and the edge of the icon. You can then just fill that area with a colour. Hopefully that makes sense! (Let me know if it doesn't, and I'll explain it more clearly!) I'll email you those brushes.

Thanks!! I think that makes good sense. I'll try it out later. Thanks for the brushes too.

The 2nd and 4th ones were my favourite wallpapers, but I thought some people might like the other two better. You never know. The glasses are just funky and sort of sexy in a dorky way! I love the glasses! :D

If you just want a simple line border around the edges you can do a "select all" and then go to edit and choose "stroke". It'll ask you how wide you want the border and will let you pick the color.

Ooh, very pretty! Those safety goggles make me happy whenever I see them. :D

I think they make McKay look kinda like Bono, but that's probably just me...

Wow I really like your LJ look! Really nice pic of Carson...and Rodney, Teyla and Ronon too! Really beautiful!

I like your wallies a lot too! I can't understand how they can look so hot in those geeky glasses...

Thankyou! *glows* I'm still playing with my layout, but it's getting there. The pics for my banner are promo pics for next seasons episodes.

Yeah, why geeky is so hot is beyond my understanding, but there it is! *grins* Thanks for commenting.
