I have had company all week and have therefore been remiss in my wrisomifu-ing. My company is tonight out at dinner and so I've taken ten minutes to scribble down a random drabble. Also, my first foray into BSG. Enjoy! :)

Also, woohoo! Finished a third thesis chapter today!!

It was the silence that got to you.

The silence that was never really there. It was the never-ending hum of the engines, of footsteps on the decking outside. It was the rustle of sheets and the regular breathing of pilots sleeping around you – the quiet sighs from the ones that weren’t. The ones like you.

Those, like you, desperately hoping for something unspoken. Worn fingers work over the rough engravings that mark the slats above you. All that is left of the souls that came before.

Their legacy. The pilots past.

With you, in the silence that never was.
