It seriously amuses me that John Watson's blog gets spam comments.

---

I have 800 more words of Sherlock/Inception and still no idea where it's going. *facepalm*

How are you all doing on this fine Saturday?
...why didn't anyone tell me about Random Acts? OMG how adorable is that?

Apparently the Live Journal Advisory Board has been retired. Oh really?

Did they ever actually use them anyway? I never heard from them, but it was nice to think there was some input from members being taken on board.

And Just to prove (even without Conroy's input!) the Australian Government will continue to come up with fun ways to regulate Australian internet users... *facepalm*

'Secure your PC or lose the net' ~ The Age

Australians would be unable to access the internet without having anti-virus and firewall programs installed and a virus-free machine under a new plan put forward by a year-long parliamentary cyber-crime inquiry.

Well that's my parents off the web. And then...

"There is software available, which could be on end-user machines, that would allow my ISP, as I log in, to check that I have my firewall turned on, that I have an antivirus that [it] approves or recommends installed on my computer, and that my operating system and browser are patched. And if those things aren't met, then [my ISP would not] give me [access]," MacGibbon said.

Colin Jacobs, chairman of the online users' lobby group Electronic Frontiers Australia, complained that this would be the equivalent of installing "spyware" on users' computers.

You think? *facepalm*

I also hate to be so cynical, but I wonder how much a company would have to pay to be an "approved" antivirus or firewall provider?

This one is possibly even more impressive than the firewall.

'Miracle' baby elephant takes first steps

He's alive! This made me so happy today.

Just last week we were at the Taronga Zoo checking out the elephants, including 8 month old Luk Chai. The keepers were so excited about another baby being due.

I hope he keeps doing so well. He's walked about some and touched trunks with the other elephants. \o/ Just lovely!

And while we're on the topic:

Luk Chai (8-month-old male elephant) two weeks ago during bath time. He's too big for the bath, so they're training him to stand still and be scrubbed like the big elephants. And afterward he still gets to play in his bath. *points at vid* We were watching and I had my camera. Enjoy!

Man opens bag of Cheese Rings, finds one

I really like this guys philosophy: Mr Jackson was philosophical, saying the day before he had gone to KFC to get a five-piece wing pack, only to find six pieces inside.

"What you lose on the hurdy-gurdy you pick up on the roundabout," he said.
