I sometimes comment on "bad" writing and I use the term very loosely as it's always a matter of personal taste (except when they just need a spelling/grammar checker). Generally there is something good you can say and I feel sorry for younger writers in particular who are sad for no comments. But, unfortunately, newer writers often don't take con. crit. very well, so it's a toss up at times whether to bother.
You teach narrative writing? Awesome. I would love to do some more formal courses on writing. I always fall down when I try to write a longer story. I've never quite figured out the art of pacing a longer plot and unveiling it in an interesting way. I'd love to one day get a novel out and now with e-books being so prevalent you can self-publish pretty easily - meaning it's something in everyone's realm of possibility. [/rambles]
